Some FIFA sales for PS2...

FIFA Football 2003: 3.2 million
FIFA Football 2004: 3.32 million
FIFA Football 2005: 3.51 million
FIFA Soccer 06: 3.93 million
FIFA Soccer 07: 3.78 million

FIFA Soccer 06 sold 3.93 million only in PS2.

Fifa has been canibalizing PES sales in this gen which is one of the reasons behind the the increase in sales.

PES 2007 did 4.39M on the PS2, and PES 2012 2.11M on the PS3 and 0.47M on the X360.

On the same platforms Fifa 07 did 3.78M, and Fifa 12 6.28M and 4.04M.

I think they are assuming that EA decided not to include that. If it beat Fifa 12 by "only" 23% it is clearly no where near 16mil. Still amazing figures.

xbox 360 also ate a lot of ps2 owners sales too though.

I understood the exact same thing as you.  But decided to ignore this, because there is no way Fifa could have sold 16M in just one quarter.

most popular sport on this planet + good quality = boom

if people of the other two continents where it is extreme popular (africa and south america) would also have many consoles it would be really crazy.
