594 was really an excellent episode, despite the fact that the Strawhats didn't actually fight anyone.

The first half was hilarious.  It killed me when Law first realized he'd made a pact with a bunch of morons.  That whole segment was golden.  I also got the impression that Robin was close to her snapping point over Franky ruining her mental image of Chopper.  There was ice behind her smile.

The second half switched gears very well and did a good job of building tension for the upcoming episodes.

Loved the last scene of Ep. 595, the entry of Luffy, Robin and Franky was animated really well, especially Robin.

I can't wait to see what happens in the arena.

Am I the only to just read the manga? Nothing about the anime.

I do both. The manga currently is vastly superior imo (anime censored as shit), but the anime got a bit better recently. Hopefully it will one day be as good as it was before the timeskip again^^

I'm rather the opposite: the only reason i read the manga is because i got caught up to the anime and eventually got too frustrated with not knowing what was going on (mostly when they finally reunited)

It seems like it xD The animations in the Anime since the Timeskip are sometimes really bad but it gets better since Punk Hazard. And also the music is freaking amazing.

It does seem like there's been an uptick in quality the last few weeks specifically. Maybe they're finally admitting that they're going to have to do a longer filler arc (not just a promotion arc for movie Z) and are starting to liven up the pace a little accordingly.
