PC's have a million tasks running in the back round. consoles don't.

that just aids his arguement even more, console ram is different from pc ram

BS!

There is no way in hell that Hexen requires 256 MB RAM. 16 MB would probably make the animation very fast and it would be crazy with 32 MB. Hexen II required a Pentium 90 MHz and 16 MB RAM. Same with Destruction Derby, that was a DOS game, dude! 256 MB under DOS? You nuts!? I'm sure RE2 also had lower requirements as well, since pretty much every PSX port required a Pentium 60-90 with 16-32 MB RAM.
So while the point stands, these games required nowhere near 256 MB RAM.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Eh where did you get that from ?

Only checked RE2 so far but that needed a minimum of 24MB and the recommended amount was 128MB.
Also it's obvious that the PC also has Windows and several other things running in the background. Furthermore RAM from the past is much slower than today's.

Maybe Resident Evil 2 + Destruction Derby + Hexen = 256 MB RAM recommended.

Yeah, I'm trying really hard to find some logic here.

after googling for resident evil i found the system requirments, it requires a paltry 2MB Vram and 4MB Vram recommended, PS3 has 100 times more Vram than that, very bad comparison.

Resident evil 2

not sure how you can think your comparison makes sense but even if the requirements would be like you say (i highly doubt that), you forgot that those games run on machines with much worse graphical capabilities. it's not as if those pcs had the same tech the ps3 has.

don't you believe the rest of the ps3 tech also helped to let the games look as good as they do and not only console optimization? or vice versa, if the pcs would have had ps3 tech back then, don't you think the games would look better?

Well my source was complete bs...

Thanks for the link Thranx

I played those pc games on my pentium 2 333 mhz with 32mb of ram... the secret was the voodoo 2 3dfx card.. But i was the only one with the 12mb version in the neigbourhood.. We all owned voodoo 2 cards back then.. Thank you for taking me back in time..

*high five for other voodoo 2 owners*

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Nice thread. I can see you purposely exaggerated to make your point ;)

Well... I'll say first that I've seen all those games in action, and they look top notch. As good as it gets on consoles.
But I'm seriously sick of these... Even VRAM is different now? Really people? Jesus Christ...
