Forums - Gaming - 'Prince of Persia' Franchise "Paused"

They should stop milking AC. AC should'nt be a yearly franchise, that is ridiculous.

What they should do, the healthiest thing for both franchise, they should alternate between a new AC one year and a PoP the next.

That is actually a reasonable idea.

the only problem is Prince of Persia needs a fresh new take on it. It was in decline after the last 2 games failed to make the same impact the trilogy in the previous generation did.

They should try to build a story into PoP that will make you want to play several titles, just like before. It just has to be more engaging to be on the same level as assassins creed.

They should of continued with the original Sands of Time type of gameplay and visuals. I tried Warrior Within but it was just too different and I couldn't bear to finish it.

The Forgotten Sands was actually pretty good. Did you ever get to play it?

On topic, perhaps it's best to give the series a bit of a rest. This way they can figure out how to rejuvinate it later on. PoP is a great series but I feel as though some time away from the IP might be able to help figure what direction they want to go with it.

Haven't gotten around to it. I looked at the trailer and some gameplay footage...what did they do to his face...

Hasn't this series been on this so called pause for awhile now?... Pretty sure the last time I heard of a Prince of Persia game coming out was in 2008. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

2010, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Did you forget about this game? *wink*wink*

Eh... erm...uhm... I got it! Very funny.

I thought it had decent sales along with its merchandise? Also the movie did not do too bad. Never seen it myself though.

I was surprised, the movie was decent. The critics don't seem to think so but I had a greater appreciation for the movie having played the game myself. It's not too accurate but it still has the whole "sands of time" concept to it like the game. Also the dagger and going back in time are in the film as well, looks very cool when the Prince goes back in time for the first time using the dagger.

I think they were considering it, but PoP games don't sell 10m copies each year

I would like to see more PoPs, I haven't actually played the old ones, but I enjoyed the most recent 2 and I am sure with time they can come up with something good

I genuinely thought Prince of Persia 2008 was the best game in the series; I thought the others were too banal; really disappointed they didn't continue it, the sales were modest.

They should've continued it because even if it didn't sell as much as Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft would still be maintaining that fanbase however small.

Very disappointed, the 2008 game was one of my favourite games this generation.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought this. Absolutely loved the 2008 games. They tried to do things a little differently and some older fans might not have liked it but I thought it was quite simply a joy to play.

Would love to see a sequel.

You should play the first game. It's very good and my favorite of the series.

I'm playing the new one right now actually and I consider myself an "older" fan of the series. Gotta admit it's not that bad and I enjoy the art style. One thing that ticked me off about the sequels to the Sands of Time was the drastic change in art style. The games felt way too dark and "emoish", didn't really enjoy them.

I bought the HD collection, but haven't managed to find time to play it yet

I've only played the original and the 2008 game so I can't really comment on the art-style of the others. I probably picked up the original a bit too late as the revolutionary platforming has been refined since so isn't as amazing now. That and the controls on PC are a bit annoying but still an enjoyable game to play.

The 2008 game on the other hand just clicked with me. The art-style, the refined platforming, the use of Elika and the banter between the main characters just made for a very enjoyable game.
