I'm willing to bet that their will be die hard Apple fans who have the latest Ipad and will get this one just for the added memory LOL.

That's good that they finally announced an ios device with 128gb of storage. This temporary model is just so they can get the option out there. Apple still has a lot of 16gb models already produced, so it makes sense to have this extra premium for now. Hopefully this means that they'll eliminate the 16gb option in the future and use the 32/64/128gb options instead at the same pricepoints.
Memory is getting cheaper so it makes sense to increase the storage amount in devices. Most Android manufacturers are slowly eliminating sd card slots, so more onboard storage is a must. I thought the Nexus 4 looked good, but being limited to 8gb and no sd card slot is a total deal breaker. 8gb is terribly small. Hell I have a 64gb micro sd card in my psp and that card was much cheaper than a 32gb Vita card! (Are you listening Sony?)
Anyway, more storage at the same pricepoints will be good especially if they do it in time for the iPad 5 release.

Google doesn't overcharge for extra memory. They want you to use cloud for storage purposes. They don't offer high storage options because of that. I agree in general though, no SD card means no buy for me. I have been using Samsung products for this reason lately and I am interested in Xperia Z. |
While that may be true, that may be even worse. Do the Nexus 7 & 10 even support 3g? Even if they do, that's just an extra, unnecessary cost as far as I'm concerned. Not only that, but they still do charge $100 for a measely 16gb extra on the Nexus 10. Their device is considerably cheaper($400 vs $500) than the iPad for what you get, though, so it's (somewhat) more justifiable for them to be charging so much for so little.

Nexus 7 has a model with 3G, I know that but no idea about Nexus 10. I guess not but not sure. I agree but this is how Google business works, they want your data in the cloud otherwise they don't get any profit since they are selling the devices at cost (or slightly above cost).
I am pretty sure that Samsung will never drop support for SD cards though so there is always that possibility to fall back on.

Google is really pushing the cloud, that's for sure. The Chromebook was enough to convince me of that. I've never been a fan of it, though, and I don't think I ever will. It can be useful for backups and such, but I just can't see myself storing any meaningful data online. I am curious as to how much Google charges for their online storage, though. I also wonder if AT&T and other service providers have made some sort of deal with Google to push the cloud, thereby giving consumers more incentive to spend on their expensive data plans.

If you want a rip off just look at the ipod mini lol

Really? Why do you think that. I always thought the ipod mini looked pretty good, especially compared to the standard ipod. It was cheaper as well. Of course having a standard hdd inside led to it's inevitable end and it was replaced by the ipod nano when that released.
I almost bought an ipod mini way back, but I think I just waited and eventually got one of the ipod nano. (2nd generation)
The ipod mini looks pretty sleek though. The 2nd generation ipod nano obviously took it's design cues from the ipod mini.

Well honestly, It's just like a bigger Ipod! I just find it pointless. But people buy anything from Apple! Lol

??? The iPod mini when it released was smaller the the older iPod. Then later came the even smaller iPod nano to replace it.
if you are talking about the IPAD mini then yeah it's bigger than the iPod touch. They do have totally different aspect ratios though, so it's a different experience. People said the same thing about the original iPad as well when it released. "It's just a bigger iPod touch/iPhone." They offer completely different experiences though.

First: When the mini was released it was smaller than a regular iPod (hence the "mini") - the Nano came later.
In the Steve Jobs biography it says Jobs didn't want to produce the iPod mini at first because he couldn't see the point in it. What he missed was that this was precisely what people wanted: A smaller iPod to use during workout and jogging. Apple completely underestimated demand for a music player that was small enough to use while doing sports. Sometimes a really small change in a product (like size reduction) can make all the difference. So it's not that "people buy anything from Apple" - the iPod mini created a totally new market on its own and was exactly what people wanted.
Also, innovation always needs technology to happen - back when the first iPod released there were no HDD's as small as the one found in the iPod mini. When technology was ready Apple had to decide between smaller form factor + less HDD space or bigger form factor and higher capacity. They decided to go both ways by offering two versions of the product and they were totally correct in doing so.
People shouldn't be that quick to dismiss Apple's products. Apple is really smart at realizing what people actually want. Take the iPad for instance: All the other computer makers thought people wanted Netbooks. They knew customers wanted to browse the web, produce text and carry their computer with them so they made smaller notebooks and called them netbooks. Apple realized Netbooks were not what people wanted so they created the iPad. And netbooks are basically dead today so Apple was right.
When Apple releases new products demand for those products is already there. Demand is already there - and Apple analyses the demand and develops a product according to that demand. Not the other way around.
