Some major changes made to the timeline

BOTW is confirmed to fit in at the end of the current timeline but the interesting thing is it's where the timelines fuse back into one suggesting that no matter the timeline BOTW was the inescapable fate for Hyrule.

I could see BotW’s placement and assumed either that, or a placement in the so-called Downfall timeline either at the end or retconning the original NES game. The placement they have would need still some further explanation on things, but is the only place BotW could go though.

The swapping of Link’s Awakening and the Oracle games makes no sense though. The linked Oracle games end with Link sailing away on a boat that looks exactly like the one that shipwrecks at the start of LA, obviously directly connecting both games. LA should be after OoX, there is no other way.

Given the timescales mentioned in Breath of the Wild, it had to be in some far-flung future ahead of the rest of the games. The Beasts/Shrines etc were built 10,000 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, at a point in time in which the events of Ocarina were in the distant past (the Zora history stuff indicates this).

As for swapping Link's Awakening, that seems very strange. Why change it now? Unless they're doing something with Link's Awakening...? *crosses everything for a remake*

Hey I never even thought of that.. There was that rumour of a Link’s Awakening remake/re-imagining. Mmm.

And you’re right there’s so much time between BotW and all the other games, anything could happen really. I wonder if we’ll ever see a game where timelines merge or whatever. Probably not. I need to re-read those Zora monuments.

BOTW's placement looks to me that it is the fate of Hyrule regardless of timeline, they all end up there even if the events leading to it are different meaning the timelines fuse back into one which is why we have all the races present from each timeline. BOTW is either a fixed point or an event in a singular timeline long after a fixed point where the timelines have merged as one.

If I understand correctly, they are fusing the three timelines and putting this game in the distant future.

Smart bussiness move and iirc, I said that I would do that too.

Anyway, don't remember if I mentioned before, but for anyone who wants to play BotW in the same old fashion as the old games, limiting the adventure to the story part it really feels like an old game.

I'm going to replay in the next months and going to detail in the next post.

As revealed by Media Create last week, Breath of the Wild has now surpassed another milestone. In Japan, it’s sold more than 1.25 million copies across the Switch and Wii U. This places it ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - which has held the top spot as the best-selling 3D Zelda game since 1998. This now makes Link's latest modern outing the best-selling 3D Zelda title of all-time in Nintendo's homeland.
