Lots of supply/demand issues and when dealing with small quantities, it's very easy to flood or dry up a market. Sales, promotions, reprints, online re-release, remakes, etc. all play into this as well.

You guys can go to GameStop and buy a new or used copy for no more than the $50 MSRP. I'd know, I did it a few weeks ago.

What about purchasing it online and... oh, the new and used ones are unavailable.

And I just checked the "stores near me" to see what stock looked like. No stores within a 100 mile radius of me have the game in stock. Holy shit. I feel so lucky right now.
