Forums - Gaming - Anyone else loathe GAME?

I was wondering if anyone else pretty much hates game? I have nothing with them charging slightly more, having rent and staff to cause extra costs, but when they do stupid little rogue tactics I just can't see myself shop there anymore;

I went to purchase far cry 3, a new copy which would set me back 40 pounds, however, what I got was an unsealed copy with nothing but a stupid game sticker to verify its authenticity as a new item. What I think they do is purchase the games preowned for probably about 30% of the price then sell it as new. Such dirty tactics have just outright pissed me off. I mean that place was a game station before, but now they have all been rebranded to game and do dirty little tactics like that, on top of that their trade in prices are beyond abysmal, the CEX next door offer something like 30% extra money on the trade ins they do.. I mean what the hell how can a major retailer like that do shit like that and people still continue to return there?

Omg, I have a picture for this, brb!

I think Ebgames/Gamespot does that over here. They sometimes open the game and display on the shelve and then put those ugly stickers on top. I avoid buying from them unless it is shrink wrapped. I know it is not a big deal but it can be annoying when the case is half busted for a new game.

I was in GAME yesterday and saw this.  At first glance, nothing too suspicious.  But to explain why it pissed me off so much - the RRP for this game is £15.  Sony sell it to retailers and recommend that they sell it on for £15.  Amazon have been selling the game for a while now for £12.  Zavvi have been selling it for £13.  GAME are selling it for £25 bloody pounds!  No wonder they went out of business.

Not only that, but they have the audacity to put a sticker on using the word "Only".  "Only £24.99".  You can't use that word in that scenario.  "Only" is when it's a bargain and you're paying a good price for it.  Not £10 more than any reasonable place would charge!

There are still shops in Germany that sell the 3DS for 249€...

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Well, I only buy from them online and they do a decent job at that, prices are competitive enough on new titles and they deliver swiftly

I rarely go into stores because you are costing yourself an extra 25%, but I was kind of considering it because of the black holes surrounding gaming retail. These stories aren't exactly encouraging me to make that change

Only 249€*

lol @ the title. Who is anthony?
Game is extinct in Australia - i liked them more than eb games though. Both are shit either way

Bet with ninjablade:

Ninjablade wins if the next 5 multiplat on the wii u are inferior to the 360 version.

I win if one of the 5 mulitplats are on par or superior on the Wii U.

The only times I seen them use the stickers are when they are resealing pre-owned copies, so are you sure you didn't accidentally pick up a used version?

I don't entirely mind have the games 'gutted' (although I did once think my game was missing the disc when I was given one for christmas), as I don't think it makes sense to have piles of place-holder boxes.
