 PS3 down 83k

360 down 101k

Wii down 88k

3DS down 18k

I wonder which I'd be more concerned about; especially when you consider the 3DS lineup.

The 3DS is in a very different position than the PS360 & the Wii. These consoles have run their course and are in their final years. It's expected that they will be tracking less YoY. The same can't be said for the 3DS. At this stage in the 3DS's lfie, it's expected to sell more this year than last year. I'm not saying I agree that -18k for one week is atrocious (I don't). But a YoY decrease for a new console isn't acceptable just because older consoles are also down YoY; so that comparison does not invalidate his point.

wow @ Wii its completly irrelevant the 90 odd million sold is meaningless imo and has been last few years

ps360 is where all the games is at, lets hope nintendo can turn thier console round this gen.

vita needs a price cut asap

can 360 drop below 70k?

things will be tough for WiiU, i hope it does well its a nifty machine but simply hasnt got the cheap price to net in casual crowds theres a huge difference between when i bought Wii at £175 and WiiU at £249 had it been sub £200 it would have done very well so far

Some very good points. However, my concern is that the PS4 and 720 may well start even slower. If that happens, what can we say then?

Whilst true, you have to remember that the 3DS had just come off the back of the great holiday season; 3D Mario, Monster Hunter AND Mario Kart. This year they didn't have any of that. It was tracking down YoY in December also, so this is no surprise. When Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing etc. launch then it will be back up YoY. Situation is different to the other consoles, correct, but the 3DS is showing fluctuations in the market due to game releases, whilst the other consoles are showing saturation. And 3DS is coming towards its 2 year anniversary in the west, so it's not really "new" anymore.

No need for worry.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Maybe this will teach Nintendo to stop forcing 80% of their software into the last 3 months of every single year.

I believe the Wii U sales this week are lower than any week of sales for the PS3 and 360, and the Wii did not dip this low until September of last year.  If you just look at USA and EU numbers it seems to be lower than any week ever for the Wii/PS3/360.

You are correct.

Lowest 360 week: 61,215 March 11 2006
Lowest PS3 week: 49,869 February 24 2007 (before EU launch)
58,643 June 23 2007 (after EU launch)

Basically last weeks WiiU numbers were already lower than these.
This week is also the worst Wii week btw.

Well, fuck. And here I thought the numbers just looked bad compared to the Wii, which even Nintendo's increasingly pollyannaish looking projections for the Wii U still didn't match.

How come lifetime totals on the front page haven't been adjusted yet, as per this page?
http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/

360: 74.25 million (big adjustment up)
PS3: 72.49 million (small adjustment up)
Wii: 98.8 million (modest adjustment up)
PSV and Wii U also adjusted up.

Perhaps waiting for the global weekly (HW&SW) chart to come up?

Xbox 360> Wii + Wii U is not a good situation for Nintendo but at least WiiU>Wii is a good thing.

PS3 close to Xbox360 + Wii is impressive for the worst selling console of all time.

Pathetic sales for everything except 3DS. I have said this before and I'm going to say it again. Nintendo is so stupid for naming the Wii U, Wii U. Everyone thinks its just a Wii with a fancy controller. They don't understand that it is the successor to the Wii. Ninty needs to do damage Control with the U, like they did with the 3DS. They need to make it clear to the GP that it is a new system.

Yep. Everyone who saw this as an obviously bad choice, have been proven right.

The Wii U is now in a 3DS situation.  It must climb out of a deep hole.

Price-cuts are coming quickly.  Nintendo will now post 2 Annual losses in a row - that's an unprecedented blow to Nintendo.  Before 2011 they had NEVER, not once lost money annually.  Now they're going to do it twice in a row.  Really sad.

And no - I am NOT saying Nintendo is Doomed.  Long-term, they'll be fine, only because of the Billions in cash they have in the bank.  And, it's not game over for Wii U.  Nintendo will just continue to lose money, until they prove the Wii U's comeback, or open up other revenue streams.

And I have to admit I was wrong about Wii U and Nintendo.  I defended it quite a lot.  But - I would be an insane person to ignore the facts of the sales numbers, and the overall situation, and to not admit the reality.  But I am not an insane person, and yes - Nintendo is defeated this round, yet again.

I just can't imagine Satoru Iwata staying on as President for much longer.  Nintendo Direct's and announcements are nothing.  Talk is cheap.  Nintendo has already failed to come through on many a previous announcement...their words mean nothing.

It´s a sad, sad irony that Iwata, one of the main people responsible for turning the DS and the Wii into huge successes, for making them their best selling systems ever, is the same man whose company he currently runs will now be posting (if you´re correct) two annual losses in a row.

I have to believe there was a bit of complacency or arrogance developed over the years that the Wii became a monster success - not just in Iwata's head, but throughout the company.

This seems to be human-nature, after-all.  Nothing is worse than success, because you don't learn from it.  Well, we'll see if Nintendo will learn from the position they've now put themselves in.

Are you saying the PS3 is the worst selling console of all time?

That is so not true.

This year is going to be painful to watch. I think almost everything is going to see sub 50k weeks this year.

Except the Wii outsold the Wii U in NA & EU, only the Japan numbers, save face.
