Gears had an impact on one genre which, again, I never argued against. However, Call of Duty and Wii Sports had an influence on a scale that it could only hope for. Hell, Wii Sports not only was responsible for clone titles like Sports Champions and Kinect Sports, but Microsoft and Sony created devices that aimed specifically for that market (and are considered rip-offs by plenty). 

Call of Duty is a billion-dollar franchise within the first week of sale (this without even going in to the recipe that devs have tried to mirror recently). Many people are chasing that and changing their titles to mimic the success. Gears has, especially of late, been fairly low on the influences, but I would agree that the original Gears and, to a lesser extent, Gears 2 had their fair share of stark contributions. They just just did not do what Call of Duty and Wii Sports have.

Didnt even read what you posted and I will not look at my new thread and itll explain what ive been saying the entire time. 

I don't understand what this is trying to say - outside of "you didn't read what I argued". Oh well, my advise - don't open an argument if you're unable to finish it and don't claim others "don't know what they're talking" just because the subject matter isn't what you favor.

I have been proving what Ive said. You are downplaying literally everything Ive said and refuse tyo admit that Gears in fact has changed gaming as it is a huge influence on other games.

I am super hyped for this game, but it's still pathetic to call a game best of anything having even't played it imo...

and i have to disagree with you jaywood i would say uncharted2 was way more influential than any gears game. i didnt put gears in my list because i didnt play it


What has Uncharted brought besides cinematics?  Even then Gears was already cinimatic but not on the same level as uncharted

Apparently :P lol  This annoys the hell out of me though.  i get that this site is kind of anti microsoft but I cant see how people can possibly say the things that they are.  It is arguable with Call of Duty and Gears because call of duty made such a big bang in the market but Uncharted no.  If people want to argue whhich is better then that is fine.

No, Call of Duty vs. Gears is in no way arguable. It's obvious that almost every single FPS game, and heck, even games in completely different genres are being influenced by CoD. The reason is obvious: Nothing matches it in sales and everyone wants a slice. 

You need look no further than the new Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Dead or Alive 5 (lol, I know), Star Wars 1313, Hitman Absolution, Dead Space 3, Lost Planet 3. Uncharted is all about making the characters likeable and the believable-but-still-almost-ridiculous set-pieces + incredible animation. I could ask you the same question, what did Gears do that was new?

So you're not arguing anymore, yet you invite me to your new thread before saying I shouldn't be arguing because I don't own an Xbox? I own a PC, I have my brain and a set of eyes.


It explains everything Ive been saying.  It changed games just like call of duty did with multiplayer. I know you are extremely bias toward xbox and it is exactly why i will not argue with you.  Talk to developers, journalist, hell people that actually who has played the games will know exactly what Im talking about.  There is a reason gears sells 6m copies without bundling.
