Forums - Nintendo Discussion - "How I got banned from Miiverse" by d21lewis

Apparently Nintendo doesn't like my style of posting.  Today, when I logged into my profile and tried to post some Arkham City pics on Miiverse, I was met with the sobering reality of the situation.  I was banned.  How did this come to be?  Let's look back.

November 24, 2012

I created a profile that said: "I've grown up with Nintendo since the Nes.  Ex-Cop/Ex-Airforce.  VGChart'z favorite son and all around good guy.  I'm the "Method Man" of the Wii U Tang Clan.

  • Twitter: d21lewis
  • PSN ID: d21lewis
  • XBL Gamertag: d21lewis"

That resulted in my profile being unavailable for viewing by anybody in the Miiverse.  The reason?  It was an attempt to "arrange a real-world meet-up"

The result-I edited my profile to leave out the other places where I'm called d21lewis and all was well.

After a month of good behavior, I was back on Nintendo's bad side.  I posted in the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Community:

"Got the 360 version for somebody else as a gift, today.  It supports 3D! AND NUKE TOWN!!"

A user by the name of "angry pat" replied: "You're a pu$$y loser"

I responded: "!? I  own every console.  I'm a pu$$y winner!"

That resulted in my post being removed for containing sexually explicit content.  Strangely, the guy to whom I responded wasn't modded until muuuuch later.  Anyway, let me note that the Wii U versions of Black Ops 2 and Batman Arkham City do not support 3D mode.  A bit of a big deal for me.  Couldn't find the info on the internet so I posted it on Miiverse.

January 4, 2013

A user by the name of *Raizo* posted in the BlOps II forum:  "My friend owns this on PS3 and comes over to play on Wii U.  That must be saying something."

I responded: "I own a PS3 and a 360 (d21lewis on both) and I'm on the Wii U most of the time.  That also says something!"

The result:   A message from Nintendo: My "post contained personal information so it was removed."  "It contained information related to an outside service (such as a user name or ID) or links to external websites that could be used to contact me directly."

I thought I was singing Nintendo's praises and offering proof that I really was a PS3/360 owner.  Mario was unmoved by my gesture.

The final straw.  a user by the name of angel posted "." (a picture of a dot)

I responded: Menstruation jokes are not funny. Period.

It took Nintendo almost a month to find my post but when they did, they hit hard.  I woke up this morning to find that I was banned at about 9pm last night.  I was a dead man walking for a post I made on New Year's Day.

So, if you're going to go on Nintendo's Miiverse, know this:  Princess Peach rules with an iron fist.  She's not fucking around.  If it can be interpreted as offensive, Nintendo WILL take action.  No Miiverse for me for two weeks with the stern warning that any more bullshit from me will result in a permanent ban.

Now, I don't know what to do. :(

I will talk to them....

btw guys I finally solved my connection issues and I can now accpet friend on Wii U my NW ID is: Sasso13

It says in the MiiVerse terms and conditions that posting of usernames from other sources is not allowed.
Read the T's & C's before moaning about it.

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

It's essentially moderated by users, they will flag your posts, and if they break the code of conduct, you can get banned for them. Same thing happens on this forum. I have posted some fairly tame things and got banned for them; I even got banned for 3 weeks for saying "most kids in western countries are too stupid to know how to eat properly" with the moderator from here claiming I said "All Americans are too stupid to eat properly." The moderation staff said the ban was justified because by saying "All kids in western countries," I was implying "All Americans." =/

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Miiverse is meant for a E+ crowd.  How you can assume some of your responses are appropriate for that crowd is just beyond me.  You're either an idiot ... no ... there is no other option.  Come the frick on!!!  How dumb are you?  Honestly???

No, don't try and hit that report button because you think I'm insulting you.  I'm not.  I'm being freaking honest here.  You read about the Miiverse before it ever comes out.  You are offered to read a TOS/EULA before you agree to sign into the Miiverse, and yet you still go beyond what is appropriate.  I'm freaking glad you're neither a US Marine or a Police Officer because you would appear to believe the rules only apply to everyone else not you!"

Follow the fucking rules and keep your fucking nose clean.  Stop being a moronic adolescent and act, neigh, be an adult.

I guess I needed to hear that.  I guess I was just trying to hang on to my childhood.  Perhaps it's time to let childish things go.

Well, D21, since my kids are reading the Miiverse, I'm happy to hear that guys who write and behave like you are banned fast...

Look me up on Miiverse and read my posts.  Of a hundred and something posts and who knows how many hundred replies, the stuff in the OP is as bad as it gets.  I never said I didn't deserve it, either.

Not sure I moaned.  Just stated what happened and gave a warning to others.

Muahahahaha this is ridicilous Nintendo.

They should release a mature Miiverse with 18+ content, inaccessible by minors.

Nintendo is discriminating.

Nah...I love the moderation Miiverse has.  The community is so much more pleasant than the typical juvi community most has.  I love that Nintendo is really trying to take the fun out of all those who try to troll or act so juvi.  I myself spends time just browsing Miiverse to report ppl who I think violated the terms and conditions for the community. (hence that's why I will never share my Miiverse here lol).  I got a couple of ppl already actually.  Too bad I didn't get D2 heheheheehe

That's not nice.

Yeah, I do smell trouble. Nobody is going to ban me from a service I have payed for, for any of the things Ihear people being modded for, and I think Nintendo needs to adress this immidiately. Their online incompetence never cease to amaze me.

I like the way Miiverse is moderated. It's E rated, not the place for smart ass comments.

Doesn't look like that to me, it looks like a place where you have to consider your words at every post, and I'm not having that. They will get into trouble here in Europe, if it has any sort of infuence on your ability to use the system, because once I have payed for my system, nobody is going to tell me how to use it. I own it now, they don't, and if they in any way disable it, shit is going to come down on them. Class action is a certainty.
