I'm surprised a Mod hasn't replied to this thread... yet.

Well its pretty clear hypocrisy. They are the exact same threads.

I wouldnt really know how to answer this if i were a mod. Also i dont think they intentionally didnt ban the one etc.

They probably thought "Oh its a rol thread, its fine" Thats even if it was reported. Same thing would apply to galaki as he also has a bit of a following.

Then they saw MBP who is really not liked by most of the community and he probably got reported = ban.

Take from that what you will.

That being said it could also be a case where MPB's thread could be seen as more malicious intended than the other two. The other two atleast attempt to make jokes and be funny. Rol most of taken half hes day to type up that shit. Maybe points for effort of trolling??? But yeah again I dont get who will judge that...someone might find MBP's thread hilarious.

I'll be first to admit that I don't even care for MBP threads, but I also feel that long standing users and new users should both adhere to the same rules, regardless of history.

MBP joke thread banned? Then Galaki and Rol threads should be locked too.

I think they all serve zero usefulness to the community and only further hurt VGC from luring in future members of note and in the long only damage our image and scare people away.

i'd get bannd cause it would be out of character for me.

i can say toll threads are ok if you know the user is joking, which we all know the 3 posting those threads character is of the joking kind. well not Rol, but he gets a pass.

But if that is the case then why ban MBP for his thread.  I dont see why his is locked and the other two were ok.  His was obviously a joke too

is this in website issues? you are to smart for me to answer this one. it seems some mods are unclear on this. i think a mod should be asked before making that kind of thread.

Well, he stated he DID message the mods but hasn't received an answer.

I guess being a long time VGChartz user means you don't have to follow the rules.

That's also the impression I have. It's unbelievable what kind of shit gets past the mods by some users (not referring to the Galaki, MBP and Rol threads here)

the thing is what you see isn't out of character for those people so it gets over looked.

i was referring to having mod approval before making the thread

Actually, it's in the rules. Rule 2 to be precise.

New Users. Because new users have not yet shown a commitment to civil discourse, moderators will look more harshly upon them (and upon prolific rule-breakers) than established users with relatively clear moderation histories. If you are a long-time member of the site, it is easy to tell the difference between a light-hearted, humorous post, and a genuine piece of flamebait. This distinction is far less clear when you are a new user, so we advise caution.

Trust me when I say that it is impossible to judge all people based on equal criteria because either you allow through every troll post and thread ever made, or you completely ban all forms of humour. Can you please explain what is wrong with this system without bringing in individual examples with which you are personally involved?

I'm well aware of that. Still a lame excuse. Some people here clearly are dicks. But we shouldn't ban them since being a dick is their character...I'll never quite understand this rule...

I certainly didn't receive any such message, and I am 90% sure that no other mod did either, because they would have mentioned it.

Regardless, I think that's a pretty clear signal not to go ahead with the thread.

My post in that thread... I have no memory of it.  I even had to google what a Zeebo was.

yes I can say what is wrong with this system.  Everybody should have the same rules applied to them regardless of how long they have been here.  It sets a bad example for new users and in my opinion makes this site looks bad at times.  so should i be able to speed in car in real life because cops have known me longer and that I haven't had a bad reputation?  No becuase it is still dangerous.  Same goes to this rule. If one person cant do it then why the others?

Man Bear Pig had also made 4-5 threads at the time of the one in the OP. All of them were aimed at getting a rise out of people, or making things (usually something Sony) look bad.

He was pushing the boundaries in baiting.

For example, just to show the difference - Rol... Hes had 2-3 troll/bait threads since ~April 2012. He doesnt need to try so hard to be noticed. People know Rol. People know what a Rol Thread is. Rol has been funny for Years.

In short, the odd baiting troll thread is funny. Trying too hard to get a rise out of people is petty attention seeking and it isnt funny. Mods can understand funny.
