You're right. Also Atari got taken over back in the 1980s after (or maybe even before, not sure) the Great Crash of 83. |
lol, so essentially what we have here is a company that goes chapter 11, then someone likes the IP's and name and bails them out, invests in to new games, and few years later goes out of business again?

Will they even survive on their own? Atari US will probably die off anyway.

Pretty much. Not sure why anyone would buy Atari for the name though, considering the company was notorious for making terrible business decisions that led the company to self-destruct. Oh well, its their money I guess.

Apparently not. Or your post, for that matter.

Even after your post, people are still rambling about doom and gloom. It's excusable, I suppose, since "Chappter 11" normally translates into "goodbye!"

Well they are filing Chapter 11, so it is still bad but it is to save the salvagable part of the company. They can not really be making that much money because the accets are worth more if you just sell it. Chapter 11 is a poor choice of seperating divisions since you cannot dicate what it is worth but get what the people are willing to bid. (which is usually low) So they are either worth less together, in THQ's case there is a chance that the developers will be seperated from their IPs, or they are going to do the same laundring process that OnLive just did.
I did a rant related to this. But it is more for the mobile/F2P not really being "the future" only part of the future. Since Atari was pushing mobile and F2P recently.
