I know people will say yet another shooter and they might be right. I am really exited to see what Bungie and Respawn do for their next game. On the other hand Pacman (Pachter) is already prediting that the game would have its own subscription or micro-transaction model. So that is a bit of turn off on top of live/psn subscriptions next gen might bring.

Seems like ps3/360/720 are rumoured platforms for first game and than 2nd would be coming to pc/ps4/720. Where is the ouya version?

o.O. I hope it won't. If I already dished out $60 I don't want to pay again.

Let's see what they come up with. Subscription based games are a dying breed. Will have to something really good.

@Basil. Yep doesn't make sense not going multiplatform. Look at Skylanders. They are making those toys games for everything possible and it has done $500 million in sales. Activision always the next big thing. Now Disney is trying to do their own skylanders with Disney Infinity.

Patcher has predicted CoD would become pay to play for years now. I think Patcher is predicting what he thinks will be the most profitable way to sell the game, not that he has credible sources telling him that the game will be pay to play, though I'm sure it will have plenty of dlc. I'm excited to see what bungie comes up with.

Honestly I think not going multiplatform from the start will hurt sales in the long run. Mass Effect could have been a lot bigger on the ps3 had all the games been multiplatform from the start. Same with Bioshock. Activision should either not release the game till it can be out on all platforms, or try and make microsoft pay them for complete console exclusivity, because if the game arrives a year late on the playstation it will most likely not sell well on the platform.

I agree with 2nd paragraph but i guess it could be the big game Microsoft wants to launch with 720. So if comes out as xbox exclusive for 1st year than Microsoft would have paid well to do so. I mean it rumoured or believed that they paid $50 million to get GTA DLC first on xbox and this is a full game.

@Pachter's prediction. It could also have come from the leaked documents. It says "There will be other DLC, subscriptions, microtransactions, and value added services". So what that really means can only be found out in time.

Totally forgot about some of the leaked details. Some interested ones.

  • Yearly franchise starting 2013-2020 - Seems like more and more of these now with COD/AC/BF-Medal of Honor rotation.
  • Activision can terminate the contract if game doesn't sell 5 million copies in first 6 months.  - Wow. So it pretty much has to sell better than Gears of War.
  • Game is targetting rating of Teen/Pegi 16. - This is interesting as most big sellers has been rated M. Could change though.
Also Bungie will receive $2.5 million bonus if game receives plus 90 on gamerankings.com. - Guess they are not big fans of Metacritic lol. Also there are other things posted on the neogaf link posted.

5mil in 6 months? I can't think of one new IP this gen that has managed to sell that well that quickly except bundled software, Wii Sports and Kinect Adventures. I know it only says that they "can" terminate the contract, but if they honestly think the game can potentially sell 5mil in 6 months, they are pretty damn crazy. New Ips are very slow burners and heavily depend on word of mouth which takes time to spread.

Was really interested in this but if the first is only coming to 360 I 100% won't be buying plus if its for this gen il be disappointed.

All 3 on Ps4 or won't even be interested at all.
MS really should start making more games and not just buying them of publishers. Very lazy.

Yea it seems really high and i don't think any new IP did that ever. I am sure someone will correct me. Let's wait and see. 2013 should be one of the most interesting years in gaming and gaming news.

good to know can't wait.

1 question. why is this in the MS forum and not the game forum? this is a multiplatform game.

According to the images leaked from Bungie. A version for PS3 is already in the works:

And if it will be Xbox 3 only, you couldn't have bought it anyway, because you would never by a Xbox.
MS has a shitload of studios working on next gen games btw.

And why is it lazy to secure exclusive content? Consumers don't care if a an exclusive game is 1st, 2nd or 3rd party. They only care that this content is exclusive.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I have owned a Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 both brought at launch...

i prefer playstation as it has alot more variety and I preffer PS controller. So I want this on PS4. If its only on Xbox3 then I may get it (if I buy xbox3) but I want it next gen regardless.

Just because I'm a playstaion fan doesn't mean I don't but competitors products. I like games. Yes MS are so great for securing DLC rather then bringing As many exclusives as Sony did... Oh wait.

I don't know who came up with exclusive story to be honest. At most it could be timed exclusive to xbox. Bungie is now a 3rd party studio and signed a 10 year publishing  contract with Activision. To best of my knowledge Activison doesn't make/publish non-multiplatform games. I don't see why they won't want to make more money by launching the game on as many devices as possible.

If Bungie really wanted to stick with XBOX brand they could have just expanded their studio and made a new ip for it. Microsoft would have loved to keep the talent under their company for sure.

No one came up with it, but it is exclusive. Leaked court documents showed a contract for the Destiny game. It states in the contract that the first release for Destiney will be developed for Xbox 360 and the 720 with a 2013 release. It then states that a PS3 verson (not PS4) would release a year later in 2014 if it is finacially sound.

Well leak documents are not a solid confirmation as you can see from next gen rumour threads. I can see it happening though as Bungie has good relationship with Microsoft. Also they have no experience developing for playstation so the extra time might help with the port if that is "financially sound".

Just don't get their reasoning behind signing with Activision instead of Microsoft but who knows what goes behind the scenes.

These leaked documents are court documents. Not some random documents someone got from a "source".
