A new line of iPhone, the iPhone Pro. 

- 5-inch Retina display

- Refreshed iOS with more Mac like features and customizability. 

- Transparent silver/glass back for a more distinct look. 

The regular iPhone line can continue on as is for people who prefer that form factor. 

iPhone is already PRO... there is only room for iPhone Lite but I don't want this riduculous lite thing.

I think iOS simplicity should never change if Apple wants to keep their momentum, my father and mother never used a smartphone in their lives, not even PCs, and now they both have iphones.

Buy an ipad mini and use skype/facetime/imessage on it if you want that from Apple. They are the only company who is not obsessed with bigger screen phones at the moment. Companies worked so hard to make smaller cell phones before and now it is going the opposite.

I suspect an iPhone Lite/Mini/whatever will show up when iPhone growth slows down to the 30% range. I mean, Apple has historically had a tough time manufacturing enough iPhones to meet demand at current price points. So which should Apple focus its energies on? Streamlining the supply chain to provide enough iPhones to meet demand at $650, or creating new supply chains that won't be able to meet demand at $300 or less?

I'd take the high-margin sales, thankyouverymuch.

Bigger phones with more computer like functions seem to be the trend nowadays. 

Plus it would give Apple another line of phones, instead of one vanilla flavored iPhone, I think that's part of the reason a lot of people like Android because there is some choice. 

A larger screen can also open the door to more widgets and iOS changes. 

For "mom and dad" who can't handle the change, you still have the regular iPhone for them. 

If you want a small phone, that's why they'd keep the existing iPhone around, but it seems silly IMO to basically just gift an entire chunk of consumers who want a larger screen to Samsung and Google. 

An iPhone with a 5 inch, best in class display, plus the iOS ecosystem (most apps, most games, etc.), the fastest processor, and more customization, would really address a lot of issues as to why many people choose Android over iPhone. 

Apple makes its money from having one model that sells to everyone (and using cheaper old models as the lower tiers). More models sounds appealing but for each one you need duplicate design, manufacturing, support, inventory, software development and so on. Really cuts into margins.

They could charge a premium for an iPhone Pro. 

There are several lines of iMac, Macbook (Pro, regular, and air), iPod (classic, mini, touch), and even iPad (regular, mini). 

iPhone is really the only one left that you can only get in one basic configuration. 

People don't like that, generally IMO. People want a little bit of choice at least. 

Besides, what's Apple's profit margin when someone buys Samsung Galaxy or Note 2 because they want a bigger screen? $0. 

It's also not exciting from the POV of a person looking to upgrade ... upgrade your iPhone 4S to 5 ... with almost the same form factor and a faster processor for uh ... playing Fruit Ninja. I mean, really. That's not exciting. There's gotta be something more tangiably different, upgrading to the same style of phone with the same form factor and the same basic OS every 2-3 years gets dull. 

The iPhone doesn't need a Pro line. That would be a waste.

Do they? Is there anyone not currently buying an iPhone that would buy an 'iPhone Pro'?
