Forums - Sales - Global UP! 12th January (updated with front page numbers)

As mentioned, New Years is the big shopping holiday in Japan, so big drops should be in order. This past weekend was also a long weekend (Monday was the holiday), but it is not nearly a shopping holiday in the same way.

For new years, the stores were Xmas nuts and this past weekend they were back to normal.

no way in hell. just looking at 360 numbers i say this couldn't be possible. if it is then damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

360 numbers dont refect 720 numbers. hehehehehehe

Wii U will be fine in the long run, sales should pick up during Holiday 2013 with a $50 Price Cut, big games, and a peripheral.

That is my prediction. I am more excited about choosing my next gen System come E3 though.

The one thing the Wii U doesn't need is another peripheral.

The Wii U hasn't had an official peripheral yet. The Wii peripherals that work on Wii U don't count for me at least.

Why doesn't it need one? Nintendo is being very secretive about the Wii U's future and I think something's up. They didn't want to be copied so they saved a secret weapon for the other next gen launches. I personally believe it is Haptic tech, another reason it wasn't just built into the Gamepad is that it would make the System even more money.

I could be totally wrong but I definitely see it happening. Even without a peripheral, Wii U should be fine. Nintendo is working toward a massive Holiday 2013 either way IMO

The Wii peripherals are enough. They cover almost everything I can imagine...

Yea I think I'll be waiting for a WiiU price cut.

I honestly think there will be one because of what was said by a inside WiiUdaily source that "Oh we added something to the pad becuase the zelda guys thought we could do something cool with it." I don't see what the WiiU has that the remote lacked, so there will be a perpheral in some form like the motion plus. But I'm exicted at the same time as worried because there might be another SS sales low again because of friggen no one buying motion+ for it.

ok before we get front page numbers i was curious if these numbers are really that unrealistic, i am sure there will be some adjustments like always (japan had some bigger once the last weeks) but how was it last year?

if i compare this weeks to last weeks numbers and do the same with last years numbers (last year in brackets):

DS -40% (last year -37%)

PSP -68% (-63%)

Xbox 360 -41% (-33%)

PS3 -53% (-47%)

Wii -47% (-52%)

3DS -54% (-49%)

PSV -62% (-57%)

Wii U -57% (not out)

numbers are almost all more down this time but it was almost as bad last year. only 360 and wii stand really out, 360 because it has a much bigger weekly drop compared to last years numbers and wii because it had a smaller percentual drop as last year similiar week.

maybe i rounded wrong because i shortened the numbers to have less to type and with that i could be wrong 1% for a number or two.

i am really excited to see front page update, maybe there will be a huge difference or maybe it will be exactly like the tool numbers before first adjustments we will get almost certain.

Don't sweat it, Criss. Thanks for the numbers, even if they might get adjusted. Hell, they almost always get adjusted anyway, so what's the big deal? I think those numbers are reasonably close and that's all we get from VGC anyway.

Also, to the people citing Black Ops 2 sales as a proof that the Wii U will forever be doomed, instead of trolling you are making yourself look really, really stupid.

1. Higher entry price (60$ to ~400$, the vast majority of the cod crowd already has a device to playback cod)

2. later release (yeah, only 1 week, but this is a "h4rdc0r3" game, the bulk is "day1 in diz muthafucka")

3. no established community (even if the whole wii crowd migrates)

4. lesser game (missing elite, uncertain DLC situation, missing streaming function, exclusive features are "gimmicks" that "ze h4rdc0r3z scoff @")

5. lukewarm ratings (look up eurogamer sweden, PS360 version 9/10, Wii U version 3/10)

6. No advertisement for the Wii U version at all.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

They could revamp the aborted Vitality Sensor and turn it into the awesome VS+, with exclusive features like added sensors and stimulators for cybersex!
