I got Fallen angels in the mail yesterday, and watched it last night.

Cool movie, great experience. Never seen anything like it before. Awesome use of color and camera work. Those intimate fish eye lens close up shots, half hiding behind something put you right next to the characters. Either the camera or the characters are always moving turning the whole movie into some weird dance, great music too.

Thanks for listing that one Kljesta, will definitely watch it again soon. The characters may appear strange but Christopher Doyle (director of cinematography) manages to top them in the documentary short imo.

i am glad you liked it :D

i was about to post more eastern/asian movies but changed my mind in the last minute..maybe another time

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Posted my 7th pick Goodfellas my next movie is also based on real life events and the villain of the movie was rightfully hanged on September 13, 1946.

Schindlers List.

4: 28 Days Later (2002) Danny Boyle

My favorite zombie movie simply because it has one of the most suspense endings in film history. A great OST and great atmosphere is enough for a masterpiece that will stand out among others.

Great movie, worst blu-ray release for image quailty that I have. Shot primarily on DV, dvd is enough for this one.
The most haunting outbreak movie to me still is The Andromeda strain.

My next movie has a lot of similarities with Half-Life 2.

2001: A Space Odyssey

Stanley Kubrick's rhythmic, ambitious, difficult movie is the best science fiction movie ever made. The special effects, even today, are mind-blowing. The music, elegant and ironic, fits perfectly the gorgeous shots of empty space and the chaotic origins of mankind. This is a movie open to a thousand interpretations, about the meaning of life, the role of technology, and the future of humanity. A unique masterpiece.

Great movie, I have it a couple places higher, and actually my 2nd favorite sci-fi atm. One beat it after watching them all again.

Posted my 6th pick which is Schindler's List as correctly guessed by kljesta64. One of the main actors in my next movies got his role because of his brief role as a bandit in How the West Was Won.

6. Children of men, 2006, Alfonso Cuarón

It has been 18 years since the last child has been born. Civilization is falling apart and refugees are threatening to overrun the pockets of modern life that still exists. Theo gets contacted by his former girlfriend Julian to arrange transit papers to smugle an important women out of the country.

A great story that feels pretty realistic through out, but what sets the movie apart the most is the film style. There are some very impressive continuous shots. For example the attack on the car is entirely filmed from within the car without any cuts as if you are a passenger. Later on you get to run along while they're trying to escape Bexhill. The camera work together with the look of the riot police, barred trains, refugees funnelled through cages, building styles, etc, make it feel very similar to Half life 2. Unintentional, yet this is the best video game adaptation there is.

Great movie to watch again now and then and the behind the scenes documentary on how they made the car scene is simply amazing. I'm curious to see how his next movie Gravity has turned out.

My next movie also faces the end of civilization as we know it, thought to be caused by an animal rights group.
