Top 20!!

My #20 is Pinocchio, the best animated movie ever made. Pinocchio represents the height of Disney animation, technical achievement, and creative storytelling. The movie has something of everything: it's moving, it's funny, it's scary, and it's soulful. The animation is fluid, bright, and filled with many small details. The original score and sound effects are outstanding, and the songs -- especially "When You Wish Upon a Star" -- are legendary.

Posted my 21st pick The Pianist my next movie was the #1 movie for 16 weekends domestically.

Has to be Titanic or Avatar. Or it is some old movie.

@ Veknoid

I remember disliking Pinocchio as a kid. It was not until I got older that I finally appreciated it. I am undecided on which Disney movies will make my list as of yet. I need to add a few more today to catch up. I should have been a sleep an hour or so ago.

Think 80's.

20. Pan's labyrinth, 2006, Guillermo del Torro

It's already been mentioned and starts the top 20 for me. A wonderfully made dark fairy tale. Definitely not one to see with the kids. A story about escaping into a fantasy world to deal with reality. The beginning looks inspired by spirited away, arriving in a forest with strange markers, inhabited by spirits. I love the fantasy imagery, much closer to how I envisioned grimm's fairytales as a kid as opposed to the cute disney versions.

Next up another movie staring a child actor that also escapes into fantasy to deal with the harsh reality. Apparently it was a controversial movie as the director felt the need to issue a warning at the start of the movie. I'm not sure why that was necessary after watching Wir Kinder von Bahnhof Zoo. (Great movie btw, I can see why the book was so popular in high school) Are people that much more sensitive nowadays?

Not that one. Where the wild things are wasn't a bad movie either, but I didn't feel that the story went anywhere.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Possibly, together with trainspotting. I'll have to see a better version first though, a 360p you tube version still tells the story, but a lot simply gets lost in the noise, especially the sound was pretty bad. Although maybe David Bowie always sounds terrible :)

Another clue for my next movie: One of the characters dies pretty early in the movie, yet stays around for the rest of the movie.

Posted my 20th pick E.T. next on my list is another 80's blockbuster and the first film in a trilogy.
