20. Pan's labyrinth, 2006, Guillermo del Torro
It's already been mentioned and starts the top 20 for me. A wonderfully made dark fairy tale. Definitely not one to see with the kids. A story about escaping into a fantasy world to deal with reality. The beginning looks inspired by spirited away, arriving in a forest with strange markers, inhabited by spirits. I love the fantasy imagery, much closer to how I envisioned grimm's fairytales as a kid as opposed to the cute disney versions.
