My #40 is Jaws, the movie that pretty much invented the summer blockbuster. Jaws is one of Spielberg's most impressive accomplishments, although he was helped greatly by Verna Fields, who edited the movie, and John Williams, whose music defined the film. Robert Shaw's performance is a highlight.

39. Natural born killers, 1994, Oliver Stone


The film was shot in only 56 days, editting however took 11 months with over 3000 cuts between all the 8, 16 and 35mm footage with different filming techniques. Another 100 cuts were made for the theatrical version, to get it down to an R rating. After looking over the list of changes I think I'm fine with the theatrical version of nbk. The director's cut only adds more violence, for the most part to the prison hostage scene which is long enough already. Great movie overall with a unique visual style and great music.

I should have guessed Tron Legacy, that's one of my favorites as well. The sound and music are awesome.
My next movie is also known for its great sound design, it plays almost entirely out on open water.

Could it be Life of Pi.  I know it takes place almost entirely on water and it should have a great score since its nominated for Best Original Score at this years Oscars.
