Every generation, Nintendo releases new original games in hope that it will be successful enough to expand with sequels. 

N64: Super Smash Bros - Paper Mario - Mario Party - Pokemon Stadium + Sequals - Banjo-Kazooie (Miss this one)

GC: Luigi's Mansion (Once Dark Moon releases) - Animal Crossing - Pikmin - Chibi-Robo (How this got a Sequal the world may never know)

Wii: Wii series - Endless Ocean - Big Brain Academy (Hand held too) - Rhythm Heaven (Hand held too)

Above are the games that managed to sell well enough to make at least 1 Sequal becoming an official Nintendo franchise or series.

There have been a good amount of failure's too: (Some not released WW)

Eternal Darkness (GC) - Geist (GC) - Disaster Day Of Crisis (Wii) - Captain Rainbow (Wii) - Flingsmash (Wii)

Which category will The Wonderful 101 full into? It looks kind of interesting but too weird for the casuals and too non-core for the core. At the same time, this game has gotten some hype so who knows?

i dont think so... but i hope it would be a smash... nintendo needs a new baby... since third party love to hate nintendo with their IP

Well, to be honest this most likely won't be a day 1 purchase for me unless the reviews are absolutely stellar. I hope for at least 1m+ but I can't stop making the comparison to Pikmin.

It might have been a mistake to release these 2 games in such a short time period.

wait this is a nintendo franchise, platnium games are making it. yes i know nintendo are publishing but didnt nintendo publish all of Rare's games too and they no longer own ose IPs

Hoping for a new Endless Ocean for Wii U.

Wonderful 101 - I don't know much about this game but after reading about it for a little and looking at some screenshots it looks interesting. I might bite on it when it is released.
