I'm not trying to pick a fight. I was truly interested in your opinion about why games sell.
But reading through the rest of this thread makes me think you *want* there to be a referendum against the games Nintendo has been making. You are doing sales projections not with an analytical mind, but rather with wishful thinking...much the same way that Pachter has been doing.
I think Pikmin will sell well (if it is a good title) simply because it will be released within the first year of the system. Nintendo gamers will be starved for a genuine Nintendo experience and will be happy to pick it up for that reason alone. Also, I think the sales figures for the previous two entries don't paint an accurate picture. There was no Pikmin released on the Wii, Pikmin was a new IP during the GC era, and the Pikmin have gained attention both because of their inclusion in SSBB as well as Nintendoland, the latter providing one of the more challenging, rewarding, and well received attractions in Nintendo's themed minigame collection.
