yes i see where your coming but from 90 million units to 85 million, it really doesn't matter, both will have the same exclusives and then it all becomes about profit, sony fought back but remember they shouldnt have been there in the first place, the ps2 sold 160 million units and was the most dominate console of alltime, i doubt they have any reason to be happy since there bleeding money.

I respect sony, they make the best exclusives games of the big three but to say they won cause its gonna out sell 360 by 2 million is laughable, when there bleeding money, lost all third party exclusives, lost 40% market share to microsoft, the xbox 1 sold 24 million, the ps2 sold 160 million, it obvouse to me towho won this gen out of the 2.

This is a website about unit sales not dollar sales, if you want to talk about $ sales you're in the wrong place. Just becuase the PS2 ended up winning by obliterating the competition last gen doesn't change the fact that this gen they're still going to beat the 360, a win is a win no matter how much you want to try and spin it.

At this point it doesn't matter and frankly, I'm not sure why anyone would pretend that it does unless they were digging up a 6-7 year bet or prediction. "Prediction" generally being a no money bet that anyone can make without repercussion.

For the purposes of the VGC forums where predictions are more like a game than serious business (isn't all internet related jibber jabber serious business though?), I suppose it matters on a personal level who was right, who was wrong, and who was just plain batshit crazy when it came to predictions. For some it matters because it's fun to laugh at what was said, and to others, it matters because yes; they are just that petty.

On a Serious level, it probably stopped mattering around 2010 when all major development support was more or less determined for the current generation of consoles.

I'm not trying to spin anything, this thread was asking does it matter and in reality it doesnt,  the fact they still haven't beat the 360 yet and by the time they do the gen will be over, and it doesnt change the fact 360 was profitable unlike ps3, made siginficant market gains in everyway you can think of, in reality the real winner this gen was 360.

This year Sony does have the chance it is only 1.8 million behind. Back in 2008 and 2009 PS3 was 8.2 million behind. Also since 2009 or 2010 PS3's game library of exclusives has increased more than the 360. The only thing Sony has done wrong this generation is the cell prosesor and lower ram than 360 = no party chat. But the ps3 has been selling more than the 360 in 2010, 2011, 2012 and possibly 2013.

This may sound mean of Sony but my brother told me this that he found out that the reason for the cell processor on the PS3 was so they can keep 2nd party exclusives. I think it was a smart thing to do but also a bad thing. What I can't wait is next GEN I think the PS Vita will have PS One, PS2 and PS3 cross compatibility from cloud saves.
