I don't understand the MHP4 on Vita talk that pops up every now and then. First of all there's no guarantee that there will even be a MHP4 considering the main series is on a portable for the first time ever. Second, if there actually is one, why would Capcom put it on the Vita over 3DS? What is the incentive? It would split up the userbase (MH is popular because everyone who wants to play owns the system it's on without much confusion. First it was PSP and now 3DS. Yes there are MH games on other platforms but they're either ports in Frontier and 3rd HD's case, or not part of the Portable series that they might do away with in MH3's case since. And they're all on consoles. Putting the main series on one portable and the Portable series on another would be moronic.) and it'd obviously sell more on 3DS. MH3G sales are already higher than the Vita's LTD in Japan. Are people still hoping for this incredibly unlikely possibility? It's just wishful thinking.

And no, MHP4 on PSP is not possible. They're done with the PSP. How is this even a suggestion?

Simple. Monster Hunter owes its success to PSP and that is a Sony console.
It only makes sense that Vita gets some love as well.

IMO they should have done a port of Portable 3rd near launch as that would have made a lot of people upgrade.

I think MH owes its success to Capcom creativity and competence as a developer.

Do you expect some sort of loyalty in business? The "just because it made success on our platform they will develop a version" type of thinking. I expect smart decisions from companies and the smart decision is avoid Vita.

Some you guys are just laughably delusional.  So for those who are "certain" that Monster Hunter: Charity Edition Vita is coming, consider the following:

Media Create December 2012

3DS
Week 49 - 211.499
Week 50 - 319,025
Week 51 - 411,272
TOTAL: 941,796

Vita
Week 49 - 11,039
Week 50 - 14,446
Week 51 - 21,266
TOTAL: 46,751

Vita LTD = 1,110,333

When we get Week 52 numbers, even with the expected drops, it's more than reasonable to assume lol that the 3DS will have matched SURPASSED Vita's entire LTD within just this one month of December alone.

Given this information, would someone please give me a logical, rational, sound argument (i.e. not rooted in delusional fanboyism) for why Capcom would put its largest handheld IP on the Vita (as opposed to the 3DS) after seeing these December numbers?  I'd really like to hear it.

Edited: wording

Capcom develops games and are responsible rightfully so, to Capcom. I'm sure Sony understands this so maybe gamers should update their thinking accordingly.

Inazuma did quite poorly. Oh well, it's expected since the new one came out two/three weeks ago.
I think that Fantasy might have managed to get 100K FW and I sure do hope so, since the game looks so good.

Why does Namco put Tales games on every console and handheld? Would they be better served using only one? Why has Capcom shared the love with Monster Hunter on multiple consoles and handhelds (even cellphones have their own version of MonHun) including multiple spin-offs . There are far crazier ideas than to think Vita will get a MH somewhere down the line. MH is being whored out everywhere and you'd be foolish if at worst Sony would moneyhat one unless they just completely cease production on the handheld.

Edit: It doesn't even have to be exclusive. They could do what Namco is doing with God Eater 2 and making it PSP/Vita. For MH, a PS3/Vita isn't out of the question either.

If that's the case then the Final Fantasy series should have stayed on Nintendo consoles, since the franchise started and was famous thanks to the NES and SNES.

Your argument doesn't seem to 1). take into consideration how well those system sold which got a Tales releases, 2). it ignores the very important implications for splitting the MH userbase which Soriku explained above, and 3). ignores the fact that no system with such lofty expectations has tanked quite as bad as the Vita.  If PSP was going to get another Monster Hunter, it would've been Monster Hunter 4.  Capcom has moved on to next gen.  It's about time some of you move on from this notion too.  I was hoping to get a reasonable explanation for it to actually happen, not just hear about what you want to happen.

And I think the biggest argument against you is the #2 though - splitting the userbase.  Doing it between console and handheld is fine, but splitting it among two handhelds?  I don't think Capcom will do it.  Not at all.

EDIT: Also, I also think Tales was a bad comparison anyway.  It not nearly as popular or important an IP as Monster Hunter.
