With no competition from Sony, MS and 343 were able to put a game up without any competition.

What is a bit funny is that a lot of 360 owners seem to ignore Gears of War as a contender. Yeah sure it didnt win against MGS4 or UC3 but it was still a great looking game.

 

In general this year was lacking for Sony. That's what happens when you have an impressive lineup like the one in 11 as well as the one coming in 12. I still love how from 2008, Sony has had atleast one title in the top 5 GOTY by the critics and despite a poor year, Journey managed to secure that spot. I'm getting a bit off topic now though, pardon me.

 

Please at the end of 2011 we had so many threads about how amazing good looking games will release in 2012 for PS3.  From 'The amount of big exclusives blowns X360 exclusives away' a year ago  to  'Well the PS3 atleast had Journey' in 2012... 

People believed TLOU would release then without even been given a release date. New IP, secret team by Naughty Dog. The forums all over were a bit blown up, not just regarding the graphics.

Beyond wasn't even announced, neither was God of War Ascension.

So I suppose all those thread was about one game, and that game is next year. Hype! ^_^

I find it odd that theres so many people in here with only a Sony PSN ID in their profile that all magically own a 360 and have played through Halo 4 extensively.........

If all of you own 360s wheres your Gamertag? To those saying Far Cry 3 looks better on console. No it doesn't, Ive played both look at my sig. To all those that say Uncharted and God Of War crushes it, again no they dont. My PSN ID is right there

So a sub 720p, constant screen tearing, frame rate dropping, pop in everywhere, terrible draw distance game looks better than one that doesnt have any of these problems?

Far cry 3 does have more detailed environments though and is open world. Problem is, unlike Halo 4, Farcry 3 tries to do more than the hardware is capable. And the result shows.

Sometimes, beauty lies in the balance of assets used.

Quality over quantity indeed.

Im playing Far Cry 3 right now and it doesnt have more detail though.  The game isnt even top 10 on 360.  Gears, Halo, Battlefield, Crysis, and others are better.  The game has serious issues running on console and has some majorly glaring technical flaws.  Im sure its gorgeous on PC but I dont find it impressive on 360 at all.

Great game though and the environment is beautiful a lot of the time

God, this was the EXACT same problem of Killzone 3 vs Crysis 2, and people were defiant in their defense of the latter. I honestly can't judge Far Cry 3 vs Halo 4 (I haven't played Halo 4 yet), but if it's as you put it, I can understand why people are adamant about it vs Far Cry 3.


Yeah I think Killzone 3 is certainly better than Crysis 2.

It sounds like Im hating on Far Cry 3 on 360 but Im really not.  Its a great game and beautiful a lot of the time but the game seriius suffers from some technical issues, the worst of which is screen tearing.  Its everywhere all over the place to the point of actually being distracting.  One of the things that really sold Halo 4 is how beautifulky the game runs.  Its true 720 without any of the issues Far Cry 3 suffers from.
