Not true.

UC3 won 43% of all GFX awards.

UC 2 won 80% its year.

MGS4 won 57% of its year.

So far Halo 4 has 11 awards, Far cry 3 9.

Using the sites posted by @Aldro... Far Cry 3 is winning by 12 to 9 over Halo 4... I need to do a better compilation but I thing the Far Cry 3 have the change to hold the top spot.

Just finished Halo 4 last night on legendary and while the game is awesome and looked good its certainly not the best graphics in a console. I don't get why people are saying this

Some are saying that Halo 4 has the best graphics from a technical achievement stand point which doesn't neccessarily means it's the best graphically looking game.  Now, some might think that it's the best looking game, but technically and artistically are two different things.  Kudo to Halo 4 for such an award. But if every game looked like Halo 4, BORING!!!  Hey, for a brick wall in a game to look like a brick wall in reality is impressive.  But I get brick walls in real life.  I'm really enjoying the artstyle in Professor Layton and Devil Survivor on my DS and feel they are very suitable for those games which I prefer over FPS's.  So I think both of these games look bettter graphically than Halo 4 regardless of their release years.

0_o  You're thinking of games like Uncharted which have that type of scenery.

Halo 4 has sci-fi fantasy environments. Part of the reason why so many think Halo 4 is so good is because of the artstyle it has. Halo 4 looks more like this (scenery varies quite a lot)

Threads like this make me sigh....

What a load of crap! best visuals, maybe in 2007.. i can clearly see microsoft buying out all the praise, to make the xbox 360 seem relevant in the visual department. I have played halo 4 twice and was never impressed by in game visuals. I thought the explosion effects were weak and textures were bad. Ive seen much better looking games. For instance dishonoured, ass creed 3,far cry3, max payne 3!

Thanks @Aldro.

Far Cry 3: 12
Halo 4: 9
Journey: 8
Max Payne 3: 3
Hitman: Absolution: 2
Assassin's Creed: 1

So far Far Cry 3 is the overall 2012 Best Graphics... the second place is between Halo 4 and Journey.

First of all his list is missing huge publications like GameInformer which gave Halo 4 best graphics

Secondly Im playing Far Cry 3 as we speak and Ive said anyone who thinks it looks better on console than Halo 4 is high.  It isnt true HD, has screen tearing some of the worst Ive ever seen, tons of pop in, and frame rate drops.  Halo 4 has none of those issues and still looks better. I

I've been playing Far Cry 3 today and whilst it is a very good looking game (especially for an open world game...in fact it may be the best looking open world game I've seen), it's not even really close to Halo 4's graphics.

It reminds me of Crysis 2. Some parts look amazing but others look dull and crappy. The draw distances are particularly bad, especially compared to Halo 4's.

Yeah no idea what the hell he's trying to do to redeem whatever he can xD. Fact remains that on GOTY Blog, a site that acts like a collection of sooo many sites has MGS4, UC2, GoW3 and UC3 the winners for each year. Halo 4 is struggling now against Far Cry 3 which shows just how the critics dont entirely agree as of now.

What I find funny is that Far Cry 3 is like way bigger than Halo 4 which is in its way its more technical impressive -> Something Sel and many others constantly bring up. I argue that size is not the factor and that generally a game is less "Pretty" when more open, hence why Uncharted and God of War are so praised visually due to their linear nature. They mention technicality as if Halo 4 has the best when games such as RDR, Skyrim and Far Cry 3 which may or may not be better looking are still far more superior in terms of sheer size of the worlds. Rather funny how that comes around to bite them in the ass. Had Halo 4 not been a bit more "open" and been more like Uncharted/GoW, maybe it'd be different. But it remains that it just doesnt reach the same level of fidelity as those games in which Far Cry 3 seems to impress more or atleast as much seeming as they are both very close this year.

Ummm... No.  First of all, my brick wall example was a generic example.  Second, I've seen stillshots of Halo 4 and Halo 4 in action.  So I've witnessed gameplay scenes with trees, clouds, rocks, grass, etc.  And they all look great, and I'm impress for what they are.  And third and for the record, I've only played and beaten the first Uncharted.  I've heard that Uncharted 2 is a huge graphical leap from the first, but I cannot comment because I've yet to experience it.  So, no, I wasn't referring to games like the Uncharted series, and, yes, I was referring to Halo 4 in principle.

^^ Halo 4 doesn't look boring though...that's my point. I don't see how it's possible to look at those two images (which BTW aren't even the tip of the iceberg for the amount of varied and fantastic scenery in the game) and still think it's a boring looking game art style-wise.

Actually I make it Halo 4 21 and Far Cry 3 14 now.

His list is missing loads. Like Game Informer, VGChartz for example. All who voted Halo 4.
