I don't care about the name at all.

But I'd be cool if you went back to the old pagan name of "Yule"

In Scandinavia, we still call it "Jul" ^^

I LOVE ICELAND!

I say merry christmas, i don't say happy holidays.

Christmas is about the birth if Christ, not about shopping frenzy and holidays.
It's about forgiving and caring.

This. Christmas is always been called christmas. It depends on how you interpret it. But christmas was originally created to celebrate the birth of Jesus. No one in the world has a good enough reason to remove Christ from Christmas.

Yay!!!

No amount of secularism will remove Christ from Christmas, and that is why the name is getting changed.

Please don't quote me, edit my statement and make it look like I said something I didn't say. You basicly reversed the meaning of my sentence and since I don't believe Christmas should be changed I do take issue with that.

At the very least you could have added a note saying the underlined text was yours.

We still use the old pagan greeting so there's no Christian part to remove. Whether the greeting is a celebration of Christ or norse gods or whatever doesn't bother me though so I see no need to change it. There are a lot of other words with religious/mythological meanings/roots and they don't bother me either. It's just part of our language and culture.

I've always thought Jesus spoils Christmas, whoever decided to try and turn the time of year for getting drunk, over eating and getting expensive presents into a time for remembering Jesus must have been crazy; Get your own celebration day and leave our December the 25th alone!!

My guess it was the same people who decided to try and 'include' children in the celebrations when we all know Christmas is a time for adults!

Merry Christ doesn't existmas to you all !

christmas was a "re-branding" of a pagan holiday

Are you kidding? The whole point of Christmas is the birth of Christ...the reason we give gifts is because the wise men gave gifts to Christ.

That's like trying to take St. Patrick out of St. Patrick's Day or St. Valentine out of Valentine's Day....what's the fucking point?

Man I'm really tired of non-Christians trying to change Christian traditions in a Christian country. You don't hear about Christians going to Israel or Saudi Arabia and demand Jewish or Muslim traditions be changed...so why in America?

Saying happy holidays is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT...we don't need to now disrespect the hell out of Christmas by taking Christ's name out of it.

What, haven't you heard? Male white christians dominated the world for twenty centuries, opressed the hell out of everyone, Sauron style, and should pay for it now. Yeah, some people believe that despite China and India dominating world trade and culture all the way to the late 19th century, and women being held in way higher regard in the west throughout most of history. I blame good old ethnocentrism, only working in reverse this time...

christian believers are in the minority in western culture and they transformed a pagan celebration into a fake date of jesus birth

No, actually, it's the non christians who are in minority in The West

Then it would just me "Mas" which is Spanish for "More". Which is the perfect way to describe this holiday. We all want "more" presents!

Except in spanish we say Navidad (from the same radical as nativity) and mot gifts are exhanged on the Reyes Magos holiday (jan 6) which celebrates the  "visit of the Magi to the baby Jesus" (had to look an english way to explain it lol)

Latin Maerica does it the US way though so... fuck it... your joke works

Lately it has been in Spain 50% Papa Noel (Father Christmas/Santa Claus) 50% los reyes magos (The three wise old men) as some people believe it's cruel to give the presents only one day before going back to school. I prefer to keep the tradition, but I understand why some people give the presents the 25th.

OT: I don't care how people call it if they try to be better human beings. Internet forums don't apply

assuming I understand your last point - there are lots of human beings in internet forums. If we can all live peacefully while understanding each other differences, not only at Christmas but all year round (even in internet forums), that would be cool.
