My thoughts exactly.

I'd rather wait 20 seconds to boot up a game then install every level. It only took 4 years to resolve that. Lets see how quickly nintendo can fix this. But honestly its not that bad.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

meh... its all growing pains with an entirely new system and architecture. Wii was crap and they trashed it all. WiiU has an entirely new OS and base infrastructure that is designed to be far more future and expansion friendly. It will get better over time as updates are released. Personally, while it can obviously be improved, its not any different than other consoles at the moment. Its just not what we expect with newer technologies.

i got my vita day 1 and didn't have any of the kind of problems that keep popping up for the wiiU.

what?.. are you talking about the same ps-vita with the slow loading time for games?..  that takes 2 minutes to load a demo..

Vita has same backbone (network) as PS3... only new OS, big difference. WiiU replaces everything.

This is already halfway-fixed with the second update. It's loads (pun intended) better than what it was day one. I don't know where the 40 seconds come from, I've never waited that long for anything. Of course, I'd be even happier if Nintendo succeeds to make it faster. Why not?
Also, I've experienced PS3 updates which took longer than the WiiU's first update. Which didn't take two hours anyway, but whatever.

The Wii U feels more rushed than the 360 did back when.

It really was slow when I tried it.

Also did anyone else feel the screen on the pad wasnt particularly great? Ipad for example imo has a way better screen.

nintendo seem to always release something then get it updated, yet they used to argue about "the game should be done before release" and "we don't need constant updates when we release finished products" yeah they're being hypocritical.

Yeah they are pretty good when it comes to games but they suck at operating systems. I mean come on - that OS certainly doesn't need a gig of RAM but developers could really use it.

OT: I'm glad they will fix it. The load times aren't horrible but they can be annoying at times.

While I admit that I love Nintendo, I have no problem calling them out when they do something wrong. For example, you can't use the Wii U to watch movies or listen to music from an HDD, nobody is playing online, and the games/console froze. Hell, I made a thread in many occasions (ie: "Nintendo Land freezing left and right" and "Youtube broken on Wii U").

This one isn't really an issue. It just feels like one. Going from one app to another takes roughly the same amount of time as it does on the Xbox 360. It's just that, on that console, you sit through multiple transition screens while on the Wii U, you just see one static loading screen.

Glad Nintendo is working to shorten the times but people are bashing them for some petty reasons, lately.

True, it's no Retina Display but it still looks great. Considering that you can get a "pad" with a built in controller, NFC, rumble, etc. as well as an HD console that may or may not have untapped potential for $300-$350, I think the sacrifices has to be made somewhere. I'm still impressed by it and games running on the pad often look better than on the TV due to the smaller-scale of the screen.
