Forums - Nintendo - Wii-U Overscan Problem

My TV currently crops about 2-3% of what i should be seeing, as compared to the image on the gamepad. The TV i used the first day cropped about 10%

I agree Nintendo should address this, preferably with an OS-level tool.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, am I?

I'm one of the posters in that thread you linked to, so not at all.

What's interesting is tht you can actually address this issue while browing Miiverse. The MV options allow for you to crop the screen in order for it to fit the T.V. (as mine crops ~2% as well). So yes, somewhat ironic that they do allow it... but only for a portion of the gaming experience.

I had the problem when I had the TV set to 16:9 so i changed it to "fit screen" and the problem was solved!

check if you have that setting on your TV

This.

I blame TV manufacturers and their stupid default crop settings, I honestly don't see the point in it.

I think I found a (temporary) solution!

So, I'm playing Mario and I press the TV button to bring up the remote and I notice the D-Pad allowed me the move the screen right and left. I don't know if this adjustment remains once I exit TV remote mode, but I'm gonna test it out and see.

Someone else give it a try, please.

Will try it out tomorrow if I don't forget about it because of weed.

I never knew what the name of this problem was. Unfortunately, it is my standard cable that is cropped at the edges for some reason. I can't even see the score if I am watching sports on certain channels.

I guess I am going to need to look into getting an HDTV before upgrading to a Wii U.
