If we take in to consideration that Wii U only were available for 2 days in Europe, and still outsold Xbox360 and is lagging behind the PS3 with 50k, I'd say that's pretty good numbers...! Will be interesting to see Europe's 2nd week and the launch of Japan...

But how come Wii U dropped to horrific in NA?

It's not really good.....it had months and months of pre-orders. Expect a huge drop next week just like in the US.
It dropped in the US because the demand just isn'st there. The Wii U is NOT a must-have console this holiday and the $300-$350 price is too high for a Nintendo console. Expect another 3DS-like situation here with the consumer confusion.

Still sold much better than both PS3 AND xbox360. Only combined PS360 sold SLIGHTLY better than Wii U in its first week. Granted I'm talking about the US launch regarding these numbers. And in its second week in the US it has actually GAINED an even larger leap over either of PS3 or xbox360, and only  by combining the numbers of PS360 are they outselling Wii U, and not even by a great deal then. Wii U have had a much better launch than either of PS3 and xbox360 - and that's a fact. It's only a disappointment by comparing it with the Wii, and then PS3 has to be an even greater failure when compared to PS2. Do YOU see the PS3 as a failure? I don't.

And I don't think Wii U will be anything at all like the 3DS, considering up to  this point the 3DS has actually outsold its predecessor, and I don't think the Wii U will do that...

So everything you say is wrong. That whole post is wrong.

Just my opinion.

Just look at Wii U's price point....is it really something to brag about that it outsold the launch of the $400 360 or $600 PS3 in America?
Do I see the PS3 as a failure? Depends. If I compare it to the PS3 then yes it is a failure.

Also, its worth keeping in mind that however "horrible" the 360 and PS3 launches were, they were "saved" by amazing 3rd party support and games like Call of Duty. We don't know how good 3rd party support will be on Wii U, but if we look at the history of Nintendo, it probably wont' be very good compared to the competition.

Which means it'll be saved by Ninty themselves lol. Like the 3DS was and the Vita was saved by....

Also you guys have the most excuses in the world. Why does it matter how much they cost? It was their choice. So yes the WiiU having a better launch than them in the US is just as amazing as the PS3 having a better launch in Europe. Japan will make the deficit even worse lol. The WiiU's global launch will be better than theirs, deal with it.

Apparently I was wrong ^^ don't know where I got the numbers from now... How many days does that account for for PS3 and xbox360?

Everything related to games have Fridays releases in Europe with little exceptions... so two days like everything else.

haha man, then that's pretty bad numbers ^^ but I have no doubts about that Ninty will turn it around, like Sony did with PS3.

Its ok, the PS3 did poorly in the US and Japan, they only want to bring up Europe because they know thats all it did do well in lol.

I actually think they should drop the Basic package in NA, it's quite obvious that it's the $349 SKU that sell... And considering that it in its first week it only sold 50k less than Wii, that is something to brag about. I don't think anyone expects Wii U to sell like the Wii, so that's great numbers.

And I wouldn't call the launches of either PS3 or xbox360 horrible, no way! But it's true that they were saved by 3rd parties, like Nintendo always will be saved by... well, themselves :p And looking at the history of Nintendo, they've had much better 3rd party support than even PS1/2 with the NES. Granted that's a long time ago. In the end it all comes down to the competition, so I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of PS720 next year!

What? Only plot I see is Sony fans providing excuses for the PS3's horrible launch. I pointed out the WiiU having a better first week than both pS3 and 360 and im quoted by pezus saying it did worse in europe than ps3. I said whats your point, its still ahead of it. In other words he got defensive over my fact and tried to rain on my parade.

of course it had a better launch than PS3.  PS3 is known for it's terrible start because it started at $600.  You could buy 2 Wiis and 2 Wii games for the price of a PS3.  You can buy 2 WiiUs for the price of a launch PS3.  The difference is it had a lot more room to cut price.  WiiU is using current gen hardware other than the doubled RAM and has launched before the competition at just $50 more than "last gen" systems.  I don't see how you can't see trouble here considering WiiU is currently running unapposed in the next gen.  360 was in a similar situation and was saved by boneheaded Sony decisions.  WiiU may not have that saving grace considering Sony would have to make the same mistakes again and Microsoft would have to make those mistakes which is unlikely given the recent history of the PS3 launch to learn from.

Yet another poster with the same excuses for the PS3, how do you know they wont make mistakes again, see Vita if you aren't convinced Sony will repeat the same mistakes lol. Had a better launch and still flopped lol.

portables were never Sony's strength and handhelds are shrinking especially highly priced ones.  Of course Nintendo sells more handhelds that's always been their strength.  They still struggled (not nearly as badly) when they were $250.  People play Sony home consoles for franchises that don't translate well into handheld iterations.  Nintendo meanwhile has franchises that are very nice for the handheld market (Mario divided nicely into short play sessions, Mario Kart can do a quick race, and they launched months earlier giving them some time to see Vita's price and respond before the holidays which Vita missed in NA and Europe where it would have mattered).  I think Nintendo will cut the price again before the competitor's systems come out ($50 on both models most likely), but will face much stiffer competition and less third party support than their handhelds get considering they used up so much cost on the tablet.
