Forums - Sales - I Believe PS3 Will Be The Number One Console This Gen With 115 Million Shipped. And You? (Sales > My Prediction Right Now)

Tagged games:

I would just make a calculation based on what percentage of ps2 where sold after the ps3 released. I think they will be lucky to match that same percentage with a more competitively priced next gen system.

PS2 was close 100m at PS3 launch... 104m or 107m if I'm not wrong (the PS3 launch is in the middle of November... so no exactly shipped number for PS2)..

So how is it a mistaken belief when we consider the PS3 has been out for the longest of any console gen in recent memory? Explain that one   -_-

Because I hear exactly the same argument every time a new console is released. It doesn't matter how long the console has been on the market. How many times do people have to hear 'this isn't a sprint it's a marathon' or 'we have a ten year lifecycle',  before people stop this silly 'everyone who wants one will already have one' argument?  The PS3 will continue to sell for at least another 4 years. Whether it hits the number suggested in this thread is another story.

Lolwut. So you are saying the console market is unsaturable? That's rediculous. The Wii has proven making such a claim is ludicrous. When you actually want to talk about sales and buisness come back because at the moment your post has no logic behind it other than "IT WILL SELL CUZ I SAY SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!
That brah, is a fallacy ;)

You talk of saturation? The slowing down of sales for the Wii has nothing to do with saturation. It has everything to do with the fact the fad passed. Or are you saying that the population of the world has shrunk dramatically since the PS2 hit 153 million? And you laugh at me ...

Tell you what though. I'll agree that the saturation point is 100 million. Now where are you going to take that argument?

The PS5 Exists.

This is to ethomaz or anyone else that want to reply I guess... How many PS3 systems do you currently have in your home?

Stop hating and start playing.

It is almost at 80M, so I think It can reach 100M. But 115M? mmm...... I dont think it can. Unless sequels of major 1st party exclusives that are for the PS4 catch ultra mainstream, so that people who did not played the previous games, will buy a PS3 so that he can play those games?

Just one. I've gone through 4 360s though. That's actually the only home console I've had plural of. HBU?

i doubt.... they would ship their focus on ps4, and they dont want ps4 to be hurt if the console is still selling 10 million post ps4

Both will live together without affect each other.

There are a lot of big games to be released in PS3 in the next years.
