Forums - Gaming - What do you think is the scariest video game or video game level?

Eternal Darkness is designed to f*** with you. It barely beats out Silent Hill and REmake in terms of scariness. RE has the scariest individual scenes though. Every time a dog jumps through a window in RE, it scares the hell out of me.

I'm going to do a rundown on the systems I played with noteworthy creepy games

NES: Maniac Mansion (If it's available on VC, it's a must download!)
SNES: Clock Tower, Doom
PS: Silent Hill
Saturn: D
N64: Resident Evil 2
Dreamcast: Code Veronica
Gamecube: Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4
Xbox360: Bioshock
PC: Phantasmagoria

Haven't played anything scary on the Wii, PS3 or handheld yet. I'm looking forward to Fatal Frame 4 and Resident Evil 5

F.E.A.R - when you turn around to start going down a ladder in the sewer, and Alma is right there in your face. I damn near evacuated my bowels!

Well, the scariest moment I ever had in a game, was when I came across the first "human" enemy that I'd played against. It was the original Medal of Honour, I don't know why, just that the thought of having to go against and killing another human just seemed scary too me.

And the whole set up to Ravenholm got me pretty freaked out, but I became desensitised to it after about 20 minutes of playing it.

Anyone else think that "I Am Legend" would create a terrifying game, if done correctly.

RE the dogs are scary? not as much as the scene where you are in the interrogation room. just having been on the other side, you know nothing is in the room behind the mirror. then that creature jumps through the mirror...

I Am Legend COULD make a good game based on the film, but it would prolly be shit like most movie tie ins are ,or too much like Resi. The book would make a crap game, unless you're into games where your character just sits down listening to music while the vampires are out.

Eternal Darkness is scarring the shit out of me...

I was in the bathroom (2nd floor)... (In eternal darkness) And i looked at a bath, it was empty.

Then, when i clicked the B-button to examine it i got a full picture of my maincharacter (which i was playing at that moment) lying dead in the bath, full of blood, with blood coming out of her eyes and mouth... I was like WTF!!!

And then, i ran out of the chamber... When i got out of it... Someone was banging on the door... So i ran to the main-floor... And there was this statue that keeped turning his face and looked at me while i was running passed it...

Damn, RE is nothing compared to that game!

= BATHTUB SCENE for all of you who won't bother reading it ...

THE NETHERLANDS

Resident Evil REmake is terrifying.

Also, for some reason that I don't know, I'm freaked out by the Forest Temple in OoT and always will be.

The Shadow Temple was mild in comparison >_>

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

RE3. They have this one hallway on the second floor of a building with a room at the end. There is nothing else at the end of the hall, just a room. In the room are a couple of zombies, and a diamond.

The first time I'm playing this, I had been scared shitless running from Nemesis, and ran into this building, up the stairs, and into the room. Nemesis didn't follow me. I dispatched the zombies, picked up the diamond, and paced the room wondering what to do next. After ten minutes or so, I went back out the room to check out the hallway. There was nothing there. I spent the next ten minutes or so wandering between the room and hallway. After a while, I went back into the hall, and right then Nemesis comes running down the hall straight for me. I was scared sht!tless, didn't know what to do, and ended up dying as he picked me up and stuck a tentacle through my head. It was so unexpected. I had gone into the hall countless times and he never popped up.

I would have to agree with you on that, RE3 is the scariest one for me, jus cause ur getting chased through the whole game, and don't know when Nemesis is gonna appear.

Eternal Darkness

"Whoa, I'd better heal myself. POP! Holy smokes I exploded!"

"Oh man, 10 zombies...controller disconnected, WTF? NO I HAVEN'T SAVED!"

"I'd better save my game...um what? No I don't want to delete- NO DON'T DELETE MY STUFF!"

Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Forest Temple

Yeah, you just finished the third dungeon. You got 6, maybe 7 or even 8 hearts! You can pwn anything in the young world. And you just got the Master Sword! Now you're an adult, you can conquer any dungeon that comes your way right?

OMG what is this temple? The rooms are inverted and there are a lot more enemies and I have to find these four ghosts and my map doesn't work and I'm taking lots of damage and FLOORMASTER ARGGHHHH

OK I figured this out, I can't wait to stomp the boss for making me...HOLY CRAP I HAVE TO FIGHT GANON RIGHT NOW??? (My heart stopped right there) No wait, it's not really him. Holy smokes his attacks deal 1 heart of damage! I can't play this super safe anymore? OMG volleyball?

That dungeon humbled me so badly.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
