That it is. My only comment on the matter is that it wouldnt have caught up to Gears 3 without the 2012 bundles. But I endorse bundles, so it is what it is.

Forza 4 is mass bundled, uncharted 3 isn't

Big difference, when you buy a core 360 console, you are basically forced to have forza 4, while you can buy other PS3 bundles such as assassins creed, need for speed and such.

The Holiday Bundle comes with Forza 4 not the Standard Core.

Personally I am surprised people still care about Gears vs Uncharted. Thought the comparisons just fizzled out a couple years ago.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

2 to 3 Years ago nobody expected them to be close... The thought of an Uncharted game outselling a Gears game was ludicrous. In 2012 it became a reality. A true competition.

When Uncharted 2 launched, the Gears franchise had sold over 10 Million units between the original 2 games. Drakes Fortune had barely scraped 3 Million. Gears was simply a far, far bigger franchise... Then. Well. Uncharted 2 happened and has gone on to sell over 6 Million units, establishing the Uncharted brand as Sony's 2nd biggest franchise and arguably the best TPS on the market in terms of sales and critical acclaim.

Gears and Unchartered are not good comparisons...

Unchartered should be compared to games in its genre such as Tomb Raider... Uncharted has great action, nice platforming/puzzle solving, extremely beautiful environments, and an excellent story.

Gears should be compared to games in its genre like... Well, OK Gears is kind of a unique third person shooter. Not stealthy, but has a cover system, Incorporates high damage reloads, and everyone loves taking out their texas chainsaw (I mean lancer) for a few gory kills! Along with a great story. The comparison games pale in relation such as Quantum Theory and Warhammer Space Marine.

Anyhow, Uncharterd is an awesome series and so is Gears. They both are AAA in my books. And both were probably the best new exclusive IPs that Sony and Microsoft/Epic offered this last generation.

Both TPS games at the core.

Both new IPs this gen.

Both are now the 2nd biggest exclusive brand on the respective console.

Release fairly close to eachother, within a Year or in the latest case, within a matter of Months.

In a short while, each franchise will have 3 main games and a spinoff.

Gears Metascores - 94, 93, 91... Averages 92.6
Uncharted Metas - 88, 96, 92... Averages 92

I think theyre the perfect games to compare and its highly surprising how similar they really are in numerous aspects.

Halo and Gran Turismo do crazy numbers IMO since I dont like either franchise. Halo sells more but they are in range with each other.

Gears and Uncharted series are also close with Gears have and advantage as well.

But there is myth that all xbox exclusives are crazy hits, Splinter Cell conviction, Forza and Alan Wake didnt do that great and are in the same sales range as God of War, Killzone, Infamous, and LBP.

Sales dont mean anything to me though Uncharted 2 was way better than Gears 2 and Gears 3 is way better than Uncharted 3 IMO

The Uncharted series is the reason I wish I had a PS3, it looks absolutely amazing... and it will definitely pass GOW3.

Sony's 2nd biggest franchise is God Of War, not Uncharted. The series has sold way more than Uncharted, in case you didn't know.

All times sales but I think its clear that God of War is kinda of losing steam. Dont get me wrong I thought God of War 3 was awesome but they are running out of story to tell and I think that God od War :A will be the last one we see for at least a long time.
