Compared to the PS360, how powerful do you consider the Wii U?

Crazy powerfull, it will ... 23 4.91%

Super powerful, like 4 to 6 times PS360. 23 4.91%

Far more powerful, about 2 to 4 times PS360. 53 11.32%

Pretty powerful, around 2 times PS360. 113 24.15%

Marginally more powerful,... 123 26.28%

About the same as the PS360. 38 8.12%

A little less powerful, b... 40 8.55%

Far less powerfull than P... 13 2.78%

I will not dignify this q... 28 5.98%

I confused 13 2.78%

It's about 2X-4X when it comes down to it on the overall graphical level assuming there is little bottleneck on the system compared to the PS360's various bottlenecks, but TBH I don't think power is the issue here, it's always about the proper support.

Aren't most engines now scalable? If they can scale it down to a phone, they can put it on the Wii U. For that reason alone support has to be better then the Wii.

Thats a very good point. The big 3rd party engines like Unreal and Cryengine have such great scalability that even if the Wii U turns out to be the least powerfull of the big three next gen we shouldn't see the same lack of support that the Wii had. If it's as easy as hitting a "Wii U" button for devs to down grade their games slightly compared to the NextBox and PS4 the game should play just as well and look only a little different.

My guess is that Wii U's best looking games will probably match a normal ps4/720 game. Eventually at some point there will be games that the wii u wont be able to handle. The gap won't be as big as the wii - ps360.

Bet with ninjablade:

Ninjablade wins if the next 5 multiplat on the wii u are inferior to the 360 version.

I win if one of the 5 mulitplats are on par or superior on the Wii U.

@ gronk-bonk

So you expect all the next gen systems to be about the same as the Wii U in graphical power? I don't see Sony or MS putting out next gen systems only slightly better than the ones they already have.

The problem right now seems to be that the scalability of some engines doesn't work very well with the way the Wii U is configured. The Wii U handles data differently and that's causing a problem. The power of the system is going to be less important than whether or not game-engine developers adjust their tools so that projects can be optimized for the Wii U quickly and easily. That's going to be the key for Wii U multi-plats in 2012.

Beyond 2012 is going to depend on whether or not the Wii U is successful enough with multi-plats that it becomes the lowest common denominator for developers or they decide to skip over it like the Wii. Either could happen, though perhaps more gradually than with the Wii.

They still haven't maxed out the PS3s awesome power so imagine how splendid wii u games will look when developers come to terms with 1.5 to 2 times that amount of awesome power. They will have to ship their wii u games with a pair of shades so that people don't go blind!!!!!!!

I believe it is about 2 GameCubes and 2 Wiis duct taped together.

Marginally more powerful it seems. The launch titles are not the best indication though but when are they really.

hint.  it's not that easy.

The CPU is three downclocked overclocked Wii's.

Edit - Fixed.
