at a $39.99 price point! not bad.

i'd love to see Mii's running around Beckham, Ronaldo, Gerrard, and the likes.

but again, if it's coming out in March, will the PES 2009 version coming out in September, a mere 6 months later?

the Wii is an epidemic.

Superchunk?

Regards PES, I fear that this version will be disregarded by many stubborn Europeans, and not reach it's sales potential, but also be loved by those that played for long enough.

Actually considering PES is so predominantly Playstation I doubt if the Wii version had normal controls and was released at the same time it would have sold anything... so perhaps this clear differentiation will mean it sells more [though probably not as many as it should]

Could be the first football game I buy.

Nah soccer games normally don't sell to well in America. I doubt PES 08 will be any different, unless it gets some mega advertising on its online part, cause Wii owners are always looking for the next online game. After Mario Strikers charged did well, maybe we converted some soccer fans who'll look to a real soccer game.

That soccer games don't sell well in the U.S. is a misconception.  Sure, they don't do Madden numbers, but they do pretty damn well.  For example:

FIFA 06EA Sports0.040.733.163.93
FIFA 07EA Sports0.030.673.073.77

As you can see, these last two FIFA games have sold 730,00 and 670,000 on PS2 alone in the U.S.  The 360 version did another 140,000 (FIFA 06) and 290,000 (FIFA 07).  These are not Europe numbers of course, but compare with NBA Live 07 or NHL 07:

NBA Live 07EA Sports0.021.030.001.05

NBA Live 07 (360) = 460,000

NHL 07 (PS2) = 400,000

NHL 07 (360) = 250,000

I'd say soccer games are good sellers, and what's more sales have increased every year (07 still will pass 06 most likely in the end).  Certainly they blow away hockey game sales and are approaching basketball games in popularity.

Tetris Party Friend Code = 116129046416 (ditto)

Ok, gameplay vid looks GREAT! Will take some getting used to the controls but looks like if offers WAY more then Fifa does now... However, this will be a barrier a lot of casuals (and there are a lot on Wii) won't bother taking.

Konami and Nintendo better market this baby enough because this version is already late to the party...!

Here's to hoping we have a 500k seller Ww.

The next pro-evo on Wii (which will be released at the same date as the other versions i hope) might be a millionseller because most of the football-games buyers have already bought their version for this year which will  dumb down Wii sales of pro-evo this year.

yeah, unfortunately I don't see this doing well saleswise. Nintendo platforms just aren't known as consoles for sports fans. Odds are the people interested in PES already bought their version and could care less if Nintendo has one. Unless some serious word of mouth gets out, I don't see it doing well.

However that may be expected. It may be more of a first attempt to get recognition, with the next one actually having some hopes pinned on it. if the next wii PES comes out close to the other two, and this one gets good word of mouth then it might actually do decently in europe. I see this more as a strategic move than one that's actually intended to knock one out of the park on it's first attempt.
