Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gonna buy Oblivion today... But for what system?

Yeah, the X360 version does run smooth now, maybe its the patches, i dont know. And yeah, GOTY edition has both expansions. Plus,(i dont know if this is so for PSN) but they have further mods and smaller content packs available online for a couple of bucks here and there.

 Possible because I really had long loading times like almost 30 seconds. Great if you don't have  have those loading times anymore ...

I would go with the X360 just because of the achievement situation. If you care more about loading times then go with the PS3, but if your an achievement-whore which I'm not. Then get the X360 version.

But it seems you made your mind up.

Well, I view it like this:

Rumble=Improved load times

Where the PS3 gets the nod is:

Extra content>>>>>>>Achievements

Get the "Game of the Year Edition". It has both expansions!

For over twice the price. Given how long Oblivion is in the first place, I won't mind missing a little content.

well i think you should get the GOTY version for what ever it is if if for both though then i think you should get it for ps3 some comparisons from sites said it was better

I was also under the impression that the PS3 version was better graphically, had shortter loading times, including extra content and ran smoother, I think it also had further draw distances as well.

Good God, I forgot what kind of time sink this game was... 6 hours in and I have accomplished pretty much jack shit.

It's like a single player MMO... I've wasted three days trying to pickpocket some stupid bastard.

This is what we call a great value ;)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I felt exactly the same way when I played the game and I stopped immediately when I came to the realization that it was just like a single player MMORPG. There were only two mmorpgs that kept me interested (Guild Wars and Space Cowboys Online) and I have quit them. All other mmorpgs i quit upon achieving the realization that it would take me weeks/months to get to the "fun" part of the game.

I thought they patched the 360 version and made it run as smooth as the PS3 one?

No, the PS3 version is smoother due to a harddrive install (but still not smooth, less frequent slowdown issues and load times) and looks better because of a higher rendering resolution (720p vs 600p) and longer draw distances. You also get more content included on the disc.
