Important Announcement

This is Suda51, director of "NO MORE HEROES". Currently on promotional tour through 5 European contries.
Having visited in United Kingdom, France, and Italy, currntly in Milan for the weekend.

I am concered to learn my comments in one interview regarding the success of Nintendo 3rd party titles have been misinterpreted.
My point was that "NO MORE HEROES", unlike a lot of Nintendo Wii titles curently available is the kind of product which will attract a different kind of consumer to the hardware, ie. gamers who are looking for a different genre to the products which have been successful on this platform thus far.

I still fail to see how he's given us a correction to his original statement. It's more of a "HEY LOOK OVER THERE" comment he's given us.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Uh, this is pretty obvious. When people actually posted WHAT HE SAID, and not just what they felt he was implying, you could very easily tell that he was being misinterpreted. He's not backpedaling at all. If someone else can track down the full and complete quote from him, I'll do the proper interpretation line by line.

Basically though, it boiled down to he said that nintendo has managed to tap into a completely new demographic, and right now nintendo was the only one who was smart enough to figure out how to create games that appealed to that genre properly. He was pointing out that the goal of his game was to bring people outside of that casual games genre onto the nintendo system, and also give something for those casual gamers to springboard TO something more complex, without having to go to a different console, so yeah, it's not going to do the great raving success that Nintendo has done.

Dissapointed that he sales could have done better? Sure, disappointed that sales are bad? If he's actually taken a look at how it has sold compared to his last game, I'd say he's not really disappointed in sales at all.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Either damage control after going too far with his earlier complaints, or the original interview really was translated badly, or edited misleadingly.

It's not like we'll ever know for sure, but I do appreciate how he's going through the trouble of touring Europe to advertise his game. A very stark contrast to how Nintendo generally hates us...

I never really interpretted his first quote as being against Wii. He was just saying that he understood a good portion of Wii's demographic didn't usually buy that type of game.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

I actually didn't think his original comments were all that unreasonable, and it definitely seemed like something that could have a signficantly different meaning when translated in a slightly different way.

Frankly, I've noticed these types of problems a lot -- I think S-E's Wada was victim to it with the "toy"Wii comment, which he also went out of his way to correct with the specific explanation that the sentence was misinterpreted.

In the scores of pages of text translated from CEOs and CFOs of all these various software companies (most of which we never see, because it's boring), I'm sure that every once in a while, something gets interpreted in a way that might be ever so slightly offensive to someone or some system, and I'm also sure that Western press outlets are more than happy to run with that technically-correct-but-slightly-off-the-real-meaning translation, because controversey sells papers and creates site hits.

I found the original comments puzzleing ... since Suda 51 was already talking NMH sequel given the expected North American success of the title.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Am I missing somthing?

I thought that was what he said in the first place? What did people think he was saying?

Was he was saying, did not make sense, he was already being negative about the sales in America and Europe... We like blood so the game will sell well.
