I'd sure like to know what the attitude of core gamers who DON'T go on this website is. I'm sure they're not anywhere nearly as hostile.

I assume it's much worse on other websites, because VGC has a higher than usual percentage of Nintendo fans.

Isn't the general attitude to Wii U just apathy/don't care it exists? It doesn't have any new games for the core, they care as much as they did about the N-Gage, and it won't affect the market like Wii did.

The people who really care are Nintendo fans who don't like what they see.

Doubtful. Not longer after the Wii U launched, people who are not Nintendo fans jumped on opportunities to downplay the system. A good example of this is the RAM analysis. Hardly anyone had a clue what the specs mean in terms of real world performance, but it was commented on in droves regardless. Whether that was here, on Neogaf (where the same thread was considerably bigger) or elsewhere.

The Wii U might not offer the games the so-called core wants, but that doesn't mean that they don't want to see the system crash and burn.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

every site says the ports are almost the same as their PS360 version, but if you see the graphics comparison of Batman on GT you see WiiU looks worst.

No it isn't... Just take a look at this post: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4897413

Well, regarding the graphics in Batman GT showed that the textures take some time to load in some scenarios.

Texture loading is an UE3 thing.   It's imply not a very mature engine on Wii U yet.  Notice how most of the Wii U games people are griping about graphically are UE3 based games?  Also notice how Batman and Mass Effect 3 are not even developed by the original developers?

Look how long it's taken it to run well on PS3.  Wait, it still doesn't.

Indeed they want it to fail. I even walked into a retailer this morning and they did not have any Wii Us at all! Couldnt go yesterday as stores are not open on Sundays here in Germany.

So we are getting lousy ports yet again, and exclusive games that are not worth the code that was written on them. ZombiU is getting mixed reviews, Turkish has post a screen shot of Batman that makes me want to be sick to my stomach, and we are getting Mass Effect 3.

The one Batman-Screenshot is from a Bug in the game where Textures are not being loaded. Overall the Wii U version looks better and has higher texture resolution.

And the Cut-Scenes in the PS360-Version are prerendered, the ones in Wii U are executed via in game engine. Most pictures that are presented to show the "better" graphics on PS360 are from these cut scenes.

Why should have a question mark following it. Those exclamation points are unacceptable.

Seriously though, what do you find to be so horrible about this launch when compared to any other?

I think it is a great launch, but I can see devs trying to make it not so.

Here is more proof of someone agreeing with me.

Do Developers Already Hate The Wii U?

One of the things that makes the Wii U different from its predecessor is Nintendo's newfound love of third-party publishers. Sure, third parties haven’t exactly been absent from Nintendo's systems, but the success of the console has never relied on outside development. They've always focused their efforts most heavily on in-house titles like Mario, Metroid, and Zelda. However, with the Wii U specs slightly outpacing the current generation of consoles, Nintendo is obviously trying to woo outside developers. And it's working.

More big-name third-party titles have been in the Wii U's launch lineup than any of its predecessors, but let's not forget that there's a huge difference between a console's launch and its legacy.

The thing is, large developers aren't really interested in creating games for such proprietary hardware. Maybe when Microsoft's SmartGlass and the Vita's crossplay functions become more well established we'll see a slew of tablet-based console titles. But until then, developing for the Wii U means that they're forced to focus their efforts into a single tiny market, which isn't exactly an efficient use of time.

Also, BioWare recently announced that any future DLC for Mass Effect 3 would not be released on the Wii U. They didn't cite any specific reasoning for the decisions, but I'm wondering if it's due to the console's limited scope and lack of commercial hype.

Obviously, there's no need to sound the alarm bells just yet, considering that only one publisher has yanked their content, but the fact that it happened less than 48 hours after the system's release seems like a bad omen for the Wii U.

However, let’s not forget that Nintendo hasn't ever let third-party developers decide the fate of their consoles. Their back catalog is large enough that, should they ever become worried about their sales figures, we'll see another classical character be re-imagined for the GamePad's hardware.

After all, they managed to rescue the 3Ds, the DS, and the GameCube from disaster. So, it's probably safe to put a little faith in Nintendo's ability (as long as we forget about the Virtual Boy).

Plus, we didn't want to buy Mass Effect on the Wii U anyway, did we?

I can assure you that Rayman Legends being in all of the Wii U demo units was Nintendo's call. Btw, it was also the only game available on Nintendo World Store's displays, although I don't know if thats changed since I last went.

When a retailer has a Wii U display IT'S PAID AD SPACE. The person who is paying for the space determines what goes there and what is on it. Retailers have no say in what games they put on.
