I know there seems to be some sort of resolution incompatibility with my TV. This is, of course, entirely possibly my TV's problem, as its an older HDTV (2006) which doesn't have an ATSC tuner or an HDMI port, so i'm using Component and it seems like at any HD resolution i put the console in that it's too big for my screen (the edges of everything are cut off)

Fortunately i have two other HDTVs sitting around, one that i took to college and another that i took to Japan, so i'll have to see if i can't get it to work better with one of the other sets.

Hmm...again something I haven't heard of before. Does the picture actually appear using the HDMI cable or is it all distorted?

May just be a one-off thing, like the remote synching earlier in the thread with Paul.

I can't test it with HDMI, my current TV doesn't support it.

First i want to see how NSMBU looks on it. If i can see everything, i'll just let it lie for now.

Ah fair enough then. That could be a problem for many people because the WiiU only comes with HDMI in the box (I think?). Never considered it a problem until now...

I don't know what to think of this system any more... A lot of good and positive feeling here, in this forum, but reviewers aren't as happy...

It doesn´t seem to have that 'next gen feeling' to it yet.

It doesn´t help the biggest exclusive 3rd party game is highly polarizing and the biggest 1st party game is a 2D platformer, even if it´s a really good one (best NSMB and the closest to capture the "magic" from the NES/SNES classics)

I agree, but neither did the 3DS at launch. But now I look at it and comare it to old DS games and the difference is just huge. I'd imagine the same thing happens here.

Give it time, people are always skeptical about a new system (specially since a lot of people seems to hate Nintendo). I personally believe that what guys at this forum have to say is better than the reviews. User reviews are always better than all the "professional" ones (excluding metacritic :p)

Oh yeah, I´m hoping we start seeing games that have that 'next gen feeling' by E3 2013.

I hope y'all are right! I hope Wii U shapes up to be quite the console the coming months =)

I got an XBox 360 at launch, and it wasn't all that impressive.  Gun felt exactly the same to me as the one I was playing on the original XBox.  The first Madden was an abomination (how do you release a console Madden without Franchise Mode??).  Since then, 360 has gone on to sell over 70 million consoles.

It finally updated, I stuck in Blops 2 and now it needs to update :( screw this HD gaming crap with all the updates and downloads, I'm going to plug my wii back in.

I'm not hardcore enough for this.

:O you will have to tell us how good the port is.

I haven't played the other versions but I would imagine its pretty much the same except you can use the pointer controls and do 2 players with seperate screens. If anyone likes pointer controls they will absolutely love it.

I also played the zombie mode while my 3 girls watched bubble guppies on the couch beside me. This thing is going to be absolutely great for people like me.

No, there's definitely a resolution incompatibility with my current TV.

Still, too late in the evening to deal with this crap. I'm playing NSMBU either way. I'm doing nothing tomorrow (Wednesday i start my seasonal job), so i'll take that time to dick around with TV settings.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
