the only thing I'd -really- ABSOLUTELY would want to see in a Metroid Prime 4 would be Wiimote pointer controls. MP3 and the MP Trilogy used them, and after playing those, I honestly couldn't go back to analog controls, ever. They are quite probably the comfiest controls for a particular videogame ever, imo.

They could use the WiiU Gamepad as a separate screen with huds and maps and whatnot, I don't care; it has its own sensor bar built in, so as far as I'm concerned they could just have you put it next to the TV so you could actually aim at it as well with the pointer, whatever. Just let me use the Wiimote & Nunchuk to control Samus!

Couldn't agree more with everything you said.  :)

Glad to know there are others who share my opinion!

Well, IF Retro's working on a new Prime game, I'd assume they'd at the very least give you the option to choose which control method you want. Especially after they released the MP Trilogy with pointer controls.

they should focus on the main game and make it as good as possible.

I honestly don't know what I want in the game just make it like MP with some new stuff. more cool suits like the light suit from MP2. no long cut-scenes! MP3 was good MOM was too long!

is MP4 confirmed or is this hypothetical? Either way, I would probably not want multiplayer. We already have games for that.

hypothetical

Co-op has ruined enough games

Multplayer? No.

I want a game that builds off of Metroid Prime 1-2's intricate level structure. Having the spaceship in Prime 3 resulted in players being funneled through a menu screen when going from point A to point B. Previous games required more time spent navigating, which in my honest opinion adds to the adventure feel. Basically, I want Metroid to stay as backtrack-heavy as possible, as long as finding the best route to a previous point becomes trickier as the game progresses and expands.

Plotwise, have a complex tale of mystery told mainly through scanning objects in the environment. An intelligent, smartly presented plot is worth 100000000 cutscenes. Metroid Prime 3 almost managed to have both (the Bryyo scans were partcularly great and had me dying to know more about the planet's history) but ultimately it is best to chose one or the other. The more intelligent option, preferably.

In other news, any Metroid game that can pull this off may become my new favorite game of all time. Prime or not.

Hell no. This idea that all games need online multiplayer is a disgusting plague that has infected far too many games this gen. Prime 2 proved that Metroid + multiplayer= bad. The whole point of the series is its feeling of isolation.

You know, one of my favorite parts of Prime 3 was right in the beginning, that kitschy little bit where you're interacting with different parts of the ship.

The interactions themselves weren't great, but it felt claustrophobic and sci-fi and real, and that was very nice.

I'd like

I think I'd like for Samus's gunship to be a sort of home base hub, like it is in every game, but you have the option of going into the cockpit to look back through old data files and have a more detailed map to look at. Here you'd see all kinds of biological profiles on your enemies, unlockable concept art, the works. It's a place you would go back to if you really needed to get your bearings, and if Nintendo implemented a hint system I would want it to incorporate the ship's sensors.

Follows the Prime design philosophy: lots of potential experience and content to go over, but entirely optional.

As much as I adore Prime 1 and 3, I'd actually like to see a new Metroid game that's not another Prime entry. Something fresh and different. (And NOT "Other M" kind of different)

honestly i want 2 more otherM's. Then a new metroid that plays like skyrim, but has all the nuances of metroid. I've already play 3 primes. I like a good trilogy, and i can play through that trilogy anytime. However if i had to choice, the only thing that would make prime better for me is co-op. Other than that maybe actually have an apparent storyline. Primes had to little, other m had too much (in a sense) loved all of them though. For the people who want samus as nothing more than an avatar like link let me say this; at least link has facial expressions. I like a good avatar character but i want them to at least emote a little. once again, not enough in the primes, too much in the other m's. Think otherM could have hit the sweet spot with more dialogue/story editing. (and voice direction!)
