Alan Dark, sounds like a cheesy B movie hero name. Yes your right many of those franchises are dormant.
I think after struggling so hard with PS3 and Vita, Sony will want to come out swinging from jump. I am betting on
-Uncharted 4: I know Naughty Dog has never continued a series beyond next generation but times have changed. I believe Sony sees the benefit of having a long pedigreed series and Uncharted is perfect for it. As long as it remains top quality it will be fine. U4 will assuredly be a release window title. This is only validated further with ND working with 2 teams. Uncharted sells 4-6million
-Gurilla Games Shooter: I don't think it is Killzone. I think Sony is testing to see if Killzone is still viable as an IP, K3 didn't do as well as expected just like Resistance. I am not sure what the gimmick will be for this new shooter but GG excels at making a console showcase game. This is what Sony will want to take advantage of. Hopefully they hire someone like Amy Hennig to take control of Story/Script writing, GG's current one is aweful(strange because KZ1 was good). Possible to actually be KZ4, but it will be a release window title for sure due to shooter popularity in the US.
-Grand Turismo: Sony has to be quite dissappointed with Japan Studios these days. They have been the cause of much bad press for the company. Luckily, what they fail at in timely execution is remedied by quality of product. Sony will want to make GT the "it" racer early in the console life cycle. They have always waited before to let the userbase get bigger but they have a lot to prove this time around.
Sony's plan is always to cover largest markets from jump (except RPGS...although they should with the highest concentration of RPG fans being PS fans as well >:[ ).

Why are you pitting 2 Xbox 360 franchises against 1 PS3 one? WTF? The guy you are replying to was comparing God of War to Forza OR Fable, individually. |
Because he misunderstood what I said, and so are you. I was comparing both combined with GoW originally. His reply to my post was pointless as I already know that... And now your post is pointless.

I wouldn't bet on that. ;) |
GT5 Prologue was a beta release and sold more than 4M copies. It just sells, no matter what. There is a great number of racing fans and GT is very popular. And this people don't have any problem in expend money (looking at the price of racing wheels).

HUH? Outside gears ms barely has any lol. I am not playing a game the entire discussion was on first party exclusives. Ms had an extra year on the market......................................duh. take that year away and its a different story.on top of this most of those sales are multiplats.
Mas literally has juyst a couple franchises that sell well, sony has way more in abundance then MS only a fool argues otherwise. MGS 4 over 5 mill, uncharted, gran turismo, God of war, little big planet. Heavy rain is at near 3 mill, first resistance is over 4, killzone 3 is well over 3 million. |
Yes because that extra time on the market - traditionally helps the sales?
I am so sick of this argument being used - it's pointless and also historically inaccurate.
Like Genesis/Megadrive vs SNES? - No
Like Saturn vs. PsX? - No
Like Dreamcast vs. Ps2? - No
Consoles sell what they sell. In most cases the later to market one can try to better the product already on market, as its strenghts and weaknesses are there to see, and and over the medium term, clean up. I think after 6 years on the market, we can see that hasn't happened, so some will try to shift the goalposts. Maybe it will, but at this stage late in the game, it wouldn't be far from the equivalent of bragging the PsP outsold the DS last week.
Remember - if your auntie had a willy - she'd be your uncle.
Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo, and no doubt Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.

The only reason this is brought up is because litterally, the amount 360 obtained in the year head start (6million) is the only distance it has ever had on PS3. PS3 has actually been creeping on that amount since it's release, with it now only about 1.5million. This is proof if the PS3 came out first or even the same time, we would be having a totally different discussion right now. Simple Mathmatics. The Wii came out the same time as PS3 also, so yes it beat both by a huge margin. Yet at least with the PS2's lead on Xbox, the lead was irefutable with PS2 owning like 70%+ market share by themselves alone.
I would also like to add MS has plenty of games, it is just a lot of them are not for their typical Hardcore crowd so they get quickly overlooked. Most of these popped up recently. MS only makes what they think can sell. If it doesn't do decent numbers you will never see a sequel. Sony gives games a lot of chances before they throw in the towel.
