Why does Vita get to have two holidays before we can pass judgment? I wanna judge NOW!

...Poor Vita. It's getting trolled so hard in this thread.

Next week/months Wii U will cut it some slack

Sony fans right now

well heres the thing...in japan, the vita has sold just over 1 million in hardware.

Famitsu has still has it under a million.

Just throwing that out there.

I don't think Vita is dead, especially in Japan, but this teaches a lesson better than any other to sony.

All this is their fault. Just look at vita launch sales... huge potential there. Now it's in the limbo, why? Simply no important third party support for now and foreseeable future.

Even more importantly, there's so important first party support, past, present or future.

Were people expecting these kind of sales for AC? I never knew it was this big in japan

Apparently this is a bigger start than usual, but the series as a whole is huge in Japan. As in Dragon Quest/Monster Hunter huge, albeit with a much slower burn.

I thought Iwata said it sold over 200,000 digitally on e-shop? Like, the worldwide president of Nintendo-Iwata.

200,000 cards sold at retail. Direct eShop downloads are unknown. Which makes me question where that 80k figure comes from.

Indeed a one week thing, but holidays are going to be though for PSV.

How can you be certain that it would sell more on 3ds? Like I said, that Japanese game was released on vita, psp and 3ds and despite the vita's tiny install base, it outsold the 3ds and psp versions. Though I do agree with your argument that it would be cheaper to develop for the 3ds.

well heres the thing...in japan, the vita has sold just over 1 million in hardware.

Also, Monster Hunter 3G has sold just over 1.5 million while the 3DS is around 8million. That is an 18.5% attach rate (for a game that has been released before and was recently put on the eShop)...even if you give the MH vita a 50% attach rate, it would still only sell 1/3 of what the 3DS version sold...its really hard to believe that MHvita would sell better on the vita than the 3DS

You are not taking into account the hardware boost that vita could get thanks to a mh game. Mh unite is repsonible for millions of psps sales. It is the only evergreen title on a sony platform I can think of.

That's ridiculous.  The PSP got a radical hardware boost because that entire series (in portable form) was exclusive to PSP.  Once the game hit critical mass the only way to play with your friends was to also own a PSP.  MHFU is in fact the only reason I bought a PSP (got it for cheaper than a DS Lite).  This time, the 3DS already has the current generation and next generation of MonHun locked up.  3DS already has its hardware boost, and it will get a bigger one come Spring 2013.  Sure, the Vita would see a much higher percentage improvement because it is starting from nothing.  But how on earth will MH Vita possibly sell more software coming from so far behind?

One of the two trackers (Media Create and Famitsu) has AC sales for the week at 600k, the other has it at 720k. The maths is 200k digital downloads, 120k through cards, 80k directly.

I don't know where but there's also digital that came with the bundle you can maybe insert in your equation

Ugh, don't even start that one...I'd imagine it would come under the 80k digital downloads directly (assuming 50k of these sold, 30k downloads directly NOT bundled or with a card?), perhaps?

It is overly-complicated anyway. But it sold a  insane amount so let's just be happy for that.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I guess that makes sense, although I thought they shipped 600k copies and 200k download cards.

I'd imagine just because they were shipped; doesn't mean they were all sold.

This thread is preposterous. At least wait for Vita's first christmas period.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Iwata said they were. I thought.

In Japan, that was last year.
