How can you be certain that it would sell more on 3ds? Like I said, that Japanese game was released on vita, psp and 3ds and despite the vita's tiny install base, it outsold the 3ds and psp versions. Though I do agree with your argument that it would be cheaper to develop for the 3ds.

well heres the thing...in japan, the vita has sold just over 1 million in hardware.

Also, Monster Hunter 3G has sold just over 1.5 million while the 3DS is around 8million. That is an 18.5% attach rate (for a game that has been released before and was recently put on the eShop)...even if you give the MH vita a 50% attach rate, it would still only sell 1/3 of what the 3DS version sold...its really hard to believe that MHvita would sell better on the vita than the 3DS

You are not taking into account the hardware boost that vita could get thanks to a mh game. Mh unite is repsonible for millions of psps sales. It is the only evergreen title on a sony platform I can think of.

That's ridiculous.  The PSP got a radical hardware boost because that entire series (in portable form) was exclusive to PSP.  Once the game hit critical mass the only way to play with your friends was to also own a PSP.  MHFU is in fact the only reason I bought a PSP (got it for cheaper than a DS Lite).  This time, the 3DS already has the current generation and next generation of MonHun locked up.  3DS already has its hardware boost, and it will get a bigger one come Spring 2013.  Sure, the Vita would see a much higher percentage improvement because it is starting from nothing.  But how on earth will MH Vita possibly sell more software coming from so far behind?
