Rough VGChartz estimates have the wii currently down 52% year on year with the full month of October included:

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/250537/2012-year-on-year-sales-and-market-share-update-to-November-3rd/

So even if the number is remotely close, Nintendo will need to make up at least ~25 basis points just to cover their own projections in the next 5 months for the Wii.

I am almost 100% sure that your OP is wrong.

Nintendo projections are for the total fiscal year, not the next five months.

At this rate I doubt the Wii will even make it to 100 million lifetime.

Thanks , edited to subtract the 1.32 million for the first 6 months

Are they talking about wiiu, or wiiu + wii?

NOBODY cares about "wii" sales, NOBODY. ITs DEAD, deal with it.

If nintendo is trying skew their projections by combining wii/wiiu --it's sad. Show confidence in your next-gen offering, don't try to beef up your "overall hardware" numbers. Nobody cares about wii sales, it's dead like a fish.

No, they won't be hitting projection.

Wii will be pretty much dead in January.

WiiU sales into the new Year will depend on SW. If it has a healthy SW release schedule into the new Year then there is no reason why WiiU wont reach its target.

I care, so no, it' not NOBODY.

And this is VGChartz, not Twitter. This recent trend of putting hashtags on forums and facebook is stupid.

It's a hard one... As soon as Wii U hit I'm expecting the Wii sales to dwindle even further... I'll go a head and say that they'll be selling 4.5m Wii's - but perhaps they'll be able to compensate with Wii U...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I think the Wii U will hit 5.5 million, but I think Wii will probably only sell 2.5 million. So no to the 10.5.

It will need a strong push this christmas. If so it will get there.
