#46 - Super Mario Galaxy 2, is a brilliant game really. It's graphics, even on the inferior Wii, can easily spar the HD consoles. While it has perfect gameplay, excellent level design and terrific sound and music, it doesn't make it as the best of 3D Mario's. To me, it lacks that final 'wow'-factor that a certain other 3D Mario does contain. Still, it deserves the praise it gets. Utter genious.
#45 - ?
My number 45 is a game from the same general timeframe as my number 46 (this doesn't mean it's from the same year), but it is still the oldest game I'm 'currently playing'.

Oh oh oh! I had that game once!
What was it called... Just 'Music' or something right? With the wierd DJ-guy drawing on the box.
EDIT: Just checked... Yeah that one, 'Music: Music Creation for the Playstation' (1998). Such an inspirational name.

I was gonna go for a more cryptic clue but I figured no one would get it so...yeah, well done!
My 45th is a game that borrowed some elements from Minecraft, but focused more on the adventure (in the time it was released).

My game number 45 is the second game in a RTS series. They scrapped the base building for this second game
46. Neverwinter Nights 2 (+ Mask of the Betrayer & Storm of Zehir) (PC)

This game modernised Neverwinter Nights to some extent whilst still retaining much of what made Neverwinter great. A solid RPG with some interesting characters if a little stereotypical. Was also nice that you could control multiple characters in your party rather than just having a single henchman. It actually had some very cool characters and gave me the opportunity to try out some play styles I'd never really considered in D&D. Mask of the Betrayer added extra story following on from the main plot whilst Storm of Zehir added some old school adventure seperate from the rest of the game (although I didn't actually like this expansion too much).
Clue to No. 45: One of (if not the) first FPS to be released and marketed based almost solely on the strength of its online multiplayer.
