The current source I am inclined to believe based on track record says PS4 is Spring 2014, AMD CPU+GPU.

Except that America is the largest market for video game HOME consoles, and Home consoles only launch during the holidays in America (Sept - December).

They never launch during the spring.

So it's either HOliday 2013.....or HOliday 2014.

We will see. He was by far the first to say that all 3 next-gen consoles will be AMD.

1.  Who's he?

2.  The GPUs of all 3 manufacterers are going to be from AMD.....but Not the CPUs...IBM's still doing the CPU's of Nintendo and Microsoft's upcoming consoles.

3.  We've known this for a long time.....so again, Who's he?

Charlie Demerjian at Semiaccurate.

Here is where he said every console GPU will be AMD, in 2009:
http://www.semiaccurate.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15562

Here is where he said one of the PS4 and XB3 will be all-AMD, March 2011:
http://www.semiaccurate.com/forums/showthread.php?p=104169
(he had said at the same time Nintendo would be a slightly improved Wii, upclocked IBM CPU core and new AMD GPU, which turned out to be true as we know)

Here's where he says XB3 will be all-AMD. In May 2011 he said MS was deciding between an IBM Power CPU and an AMD one, hence also confirming that he knew PS4 was all-AMD in at least March 2011.

I believe this CHARLIE fellow has been mentioned on the BEYOND3D forums.

Needless to say, his word is not definitive as he's been wrong often and at least fairly consistently.

He even said the Wii U would play DVD's, which obviously isn't true.

"What I am hearing is that two are decided, one is not, but there is one candidate FAR in the lead with another design that is not taken very seriously by anyone but could technically be decided on.

If there is a Wii2 at E3, it will almost 100% a tarted up Wii. The GPU will do 'HD' now, and will play DVDs (not sure about BD though). I am pretty sure that it would just be a slightly upclocked Wii, if that, with the ability to do 1080p out.

You may need to invest in new, more rounded sources, Soleron.

Just sayin.

Well, my 2 cents the Cell was an interesting Idea, but not supported well enough. Gaming programers were asked too much, outside of writing a game, to really optimize it. It should have been supported better by the operating system and not gaming companies.

I think Game Producers should spend their efforts writing great games, puzzles, interesting AI, etc.. Not trying to figure out how to handle bottle necks from clunky hardware.

It was an interesting idea, but it's time is lost since passed and I doubt they will support it in the future.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Sounds totally credible.(If this sounds sarcastic, it's not.)
So where would the next Xbox be against the PS4 right now? We're expect final dev kits to be delivered by summer 2013.

From what I understand from that last article, they were having trouble creating dev kits right? So it looks like they'l miss their intended September 2013 plans.
Could they still make holidays though? Or does that push it into 2014?

Technically, even the original Wii is able to play DVDs, Nintendo just blocks that feature. I guess to avoid some licensing fees or something.

There's been no update to that article. I don't know.

Lack of dev kits wouldn't necessarily stop a launch. I do think the actual availability of next-gen games will take longer than expected though. Also MS can afford to eat big losses or risk mass hardware failures to gain time against the competition, since they care about supporting the Windows ecosystem rather than Xboxes being profitable in themselves.

I don't trust this guy's knowledge 100% but I do trust that he has actual sources and he's telling the truth as to the information he gets from them. Which is all one can ask from a rumour journalist.

Actually it still lives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_MIC

They just rebranded it because the past failure left a bad taste in their mouth.

It has a lot of the specialist components like the texture units stripped out tho. And the point of Larrabee was to get into the dedicated GPU market which they have abandoned completely. They have decided to compete with Nvidia from the bottom instead lol.
