Don't agree with the Gran Turismo part, but yeah Nintendo does over charge for their products. They seem to believe 4-5 years later there games are worth full price.

Hint: They're not.

If they weren't worth the price, people wouldn't buy them.

What else needs to be said?

That those people are stupid and that real games drop in price a month or less after release because demand and word of mouth about them are so strong.

Nintendo did this shit last gen also

Right.

Except for the fact that they didn't.

But otherwise, right.

Wrong.

If you are a car nut, Gran Turismo would be the more fun game for you.

Mario Kart Wii is so successful because it is a kids game. Rated E for everyone.

Gran Turismo is more of a niche game. More a of a racing simulator than a racing game.

So a game is for kids, if it's rated E for everyone? Doesn't this also apply to... wait for it... Gran Turismo?

Busted!!!

Not busted, because Gran Turismo is rated E for Excellent.

If demand and word of mouth were really so strong, they wouldn't need a price drop.

sorry but gran turismo is boring for me. It's like playing a slow 70 hour turned based RPG instead of an action game.

as far as the price goes, most games are overpriced, that's why they drop in price right away. If the price drops, there are 4 possible reasons for this. Either the game is overpriced from the beginning, retailers massively overstocked the game, people just don't want the game regardless, or the game is too short or gets boring quickly so people sell it back. MKwii is a game that is always in demand, and people hold onto it for a very long time. It's supply and demand people, think about it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

This isn't stealing. More people buy MKW than GT. MKW stays pricey, GT goes down in price.

Similarly, Super Smash Bros. Brawl still costs $30 at gamestop, and released 5 years ago, while other 3 year old fighting games have gone down to $20.

Unlike them, true hardcore gamers wait for hours or days in front of a store to be able to buy the game before that price drop.

Nintendo is arrogant with their prices as always be it hardware or games. But they have good fanbase who allow them to do so.

Heck, my cousin who lives in Canada now bought her children the Mario Kart Wii bundle. They don't have much knowledge about games so you can understand how Nintendo prevails in casual gamers mind.

As much as you know about games, it seems you don't know much about economy.  This is simple supply and demand.

Because there is demand for their 3+ year old product, they will and should keep selling at that price.  For them not to, they would be considered a dumb company with bad business sense.

It would be the same with every other games company.  If sony and microsoft had an actual game that stayed relevant for more than 12 months, and that doesn't include multi console games(COD), it would keep selling at those top end prices as well.

Not necessarily true. Fist party Ninty games rarely get any siginifcant price drops no matter how well or bad they sell. Someone recently pointed out this about the new Kid Ikarus 3ds game. It isn't selling well, but the price hasn't fallen that much (could be wrong though).

But Galaki was trying to be funny :) Still can't believe people take seiously everything he posts no matter how obvious it is that he's not being serious.

890,000 sales for a game whose last game in the series was 16 years ago isn't exactly bad.....

That's why said "isn't selling" and not "hasn't sold". This is by all means not bad, but currently is it selling well weekly or could it benefit from a price cut?

Sometimes i still play MK Wii + MK7, and I never played GT from the beginning and I don't like "real" racing games because I really suck.

Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them. The end.

Now stop bringing Forza into this thread !

Next poster mentioning Forza is going to receive a ban, because people don't seem to learn it.

Gran Turismo may have a lot of licenses and stuff in it, but it is also very boring. A great number of people love Mario Kart, and consider it one of the best games of all time. More people prefer to spend full price on Mario Kart than to waste money on a discounted game they find boring.

You can call Mario Kart "casual/dumb" all you want, but that sort of sentiment is irrelevant in the real world where people find Mario Kart both more fun and more satisfying than Gran Turismo. This has led Mario Kart to being a far more successful game franchise.

Wrong.

Care to venture a guess as to what the ESRB rating of Gran Turismo 5 is?

Edit: I should have read the rest of the thread before posting, seems I wasn't the only one to notice this
