Depends, Lost Odyssey doesn't really get good until the third disc. The beginning of the game has a pretty high difficulty curve. Levels are capped depending on an area. Magic takes a very long time to cast early on and makes them useless so you have to heal with items and attack with magic based items (For instance using fire with an item instead of casting it). You have very little money early on so you won't have many healing items. Even though running through enemies is easy enough, boss fights have high difficulty compared to enemies early on. Later on, about near the end of the second disc, the difficulty eases up as you learn abilities to cut down casting time. Healing in battle and out of battle becomes more easy. Game becomes really good when you grab your ships for travel. There's a fair bit of side quests, extra bosses, and extra dungeons and exploration. You can go to areas where you're not level capped and grind up levels and learn abilities. There's quite a bit of abilities for you to learn too, which makes for better combat and strategies. On the story level, I really didn't like it, but that's more of a preference, so it was a bit difficult for me to get through the more difficult early game as I really didn't care to find out what happens next (I Liked the characters themselves though).
