Forums - Nintendo - RUMOR from vgchartz partner Kombo.com: Factor 5 developing Kid Icarus Wii

Kid Icarus needs to be a DMC/GoW-style hack 'n' slash. =P

Kid Icarus GOES TO HELL. Little angel boy slicing and dicing gigantic demons, blood splattered all over his face. How awesome would that be?

I'm not a big fan of Nintendo outsourcing their games. Take F-Zero, Yoshi's Island DS, the Capcom Zelda's, Metroid (ok, most of you will probably disagree about Metroid... but I like the Japanese Metroid better).

What??? Oracle Of Age/Seasons ROCKED!!! I still play those!!

On Topic: I find it very possible but i'm pretty sure some guy named Miyamoto will be involved in the development ;)

I didn't even finish them, because I was so disappointed... from the very beginning, these games felt like Nintendo had given Capcom a "Legend of Zelda" tool kit, and Capcom produced a remix of "Link to the Past".

After that, I skipped "Minish Cap" as well.

No offense... but maybe it's because you're 10 years younger than me :) I started playing Zelda in the 80's on the NES... it's my favourite series. But these parts seemed stale and out of place.

I started Zelda back in the 80's as well. Not every game in the series has been a revolution like the original or Ocarina, but that doesn't mean they haven't been excellent games. I will hand it to you though, it's quite something that Zelda is your favorite series and you skipped the critically acclaimed(as all Zeldas are) Minish Cap. I'm really enjoying Phantom Hourglass right now and have almost finished it, but feel that I'll end up preferring Minish Cap over Hourglass.

I honestly feel 90% of views like that wouldn't exist if Nintendo had kept the outsourcing secret, or if people didn't get such a kick out telling everyone that most everything new stinks, and most everything old was a masterpiece. I'm not saying that's what you do man, but you see that going on in just about any forum you go to.

People really shouldn't expect games in a great series to reinvent the wheel every time a new one comes around. It's almost like expecting every time you kiss someone to be like your first kiss: you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

BOOO! If Kid Icarus is to be made, it needs to be done by Nintendo. I enjoyed Rogue Leader a LOT, but still...

Ah finally. I hope this is true.

anyone saying Kid Icarus would be "flying around" killing enemies all the time has never played kid icarus. for most of the game he couldnt even fly. only the last level as far as i recall. when he had angel wings and mirror shield and light arrows.

aaah, the good old times. although the final boss (medusa?) was not really hard, after the pain that was the entire game...

I absolutely understand what you mean. But it's not that I expect every part to be a revolution. I just thought that the epic scope was missing, the story and setting just seemed a bit random. I played Minish Cap for some hours as well, and I had the same problem.

I mean, all the elements you'd expect are there - swordboomerangarrow, check. Hidden caves, check. And so on... but the Zelda series is one that is constantly walking a thin line between tradition and innovation anyway. So it's absolutely necessary for the developers to somehow reinvent the series with every iteration. I'm not talking about a revolution, just the little details... take "Phantom Hourglass" - not my favourite part, but the Zelda spirit is there from the beginning, although it is a very traditional Zelda game.

I hope Nintendo keep the series in-house for the future... I mean, it's one of their 2 top series and one of the most important games ever. They should not let anybody work on it but the very best, that's my opinion.

^kid icarus can be good with the wii-mote if the right developer does it

You mean Factor 5? Motion controls?

But I would like a new IP-something we've never played before.

how many people haveplayed kid icarus? how many beat it?

that game is dam near impossible.  started playing it, fun as heck, but its just so dam frustrating.  it needs either a diffuculty curve or an easy mode to get a hang of the controls and random movements.  tis a platforming dream though.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

Nintendo must really be busy nowadays.... They really need other developers to keep the momentum of games coming and to revive long forgotten franchises.
