I will buy digital more than likely. More centered on more VC stuff, (need to increase my N64 and GC collection), but I will likely by new titles too.

Good thing you mostly want Wii U VC games, you won't be getting any from VC content purchased at the Wii Shop Channel.

I don't understand your comment.

Once I have a Wii U, its only the Nintendo eShop. Wii Shop Channel will be no more. Sure, I won't get any credit for past purchases, but once I get the WiiU, I will pick up some N64 and hopefully GC titles. I think I'm pretty solid on anything I wanted from anything prior to those consoles already.

Whether I use this for digital copies of retail games depends solely on what is charged for them. Going by the £39.99 price tag of 3ds digital copies of retail games it may not be worth the 10% off if they're going to cost more overall than retail copies. C'mon Nintendo get your dinosaur asses in gear and get with the program and price digital accordingly. Paying more for digital than retail is stupid, there's no packaging, instruction booklets or distribution costs. I feel Nintendo are going down the wrong path here, and making a complete mess of digital distribution. I want digital to work and I want to get my games instantly via download rather than wait on the post, but Nintendo have to get it right and not make a mess of it.

I am pretty sure all the Wii Shop Channel VC games will be able to transfer to your Wii U.  It wouldn't make sense otherwise and would really piss off a lot of people.  I believe I heard that the Miiverse intergration on Wii U and 3DS will bring this or something like that.  I am still waiting to play my VC games that I bought on the Wii on the 3DS.  They are already offering a few NES games on the 3DS eshop that I already purchased on the Wii.  I will not buy the same damn game twice.  To think Nintendo would shit on its consumers when they have full detail of what you bought on your Wii through your Club Nintendo account makes zero sense to me.  Long onto the Wii U eshop and enter your Club Nintendo account information.  Anyways, here is an article pretty much stating what I am trying to say.

"If you have purchased a lot of games on Nintendo’s WiiWare and Virtual Console service for the original Wii, you’re in luck. Nintendo has confirmed that players will be able to transfer their old downloads to the Wii U."

So TomaTito is very misinformed.

You can transfer Wii content to your Wii U, but those will run in legacy mode, meaning they aren't Wii U content.

Hopefully Nintendo will update at least their Wii VC to Wii U (WiiWare is impossible), but I guess it won't be ready at launch

EDIT: And at the footnote of the ddp website:

Rules: Earn approximately 10% of the price paid at the Nintendo eShop for games and content. Earn approximately 10% of the Nintendo eShop MSRP on download codes purchased at retailers. Both games published by Nintendo and by other publishers are eligible for Points. Games and content purchased at the Wii Shop Channel or on Nintendo 3DS are not eligible for Points. Points are only earned on purchases over 10 cents and at 10 cent increments. Owners of the Wii U Basic Set do not qualify for Deluxe Digital Promotion

Wii Shop will have a section on the eShop, just like DSiWare does on the 3DS.

Okay, now I see what you were talking about.  I doubt WiiWare titles will ever be playable on the Wii U Gamepad screen.  However, they should get a patch in to address the VC titles playing on the Wii U Gamepad.

I'm still wondering...is this only for launch consoles or it also applies to later purchase? If it is the latter and I buy the Wii U in December 2013, does that mean I "lose" one year this promotion?

Nintendo and PC gamer

I hope they will allow people to join this program (for a cost) with the base edition.

You said yourself before, VC should also work on the 3DS. I'm guessing Wii's VC won't be upgraded at launch, so the VC available at the eShop would be Wii content, meaning no points... xD me convoluted....

I'm pretty sure it'll be handled the same way as current.

VC games are always untouched. Controls are wiimote or classic controller and I'm sure later will be pro controller or gamepad (no screen) as well.

When it talks wii shop channel, it is referring to Wii centric software, like its channels or wiiware. VC is emulated anyways and can/will be emulated on WiiU in the same manner. Plus, it sams items "purchased" i.e. past tense. Which should be obvious that they would not be included.

i.e. only content purhcased via nintendo eShop through WiiU will be included. That should include VC content and other WiiU digital content.
